The Colts are three point underdogs at home? Actually, that makes a ton of sense. If the Colts can’t even be relied upon to play their starters in every regular season game, methinks they’ll handle Peyton Manning and company with kid gloves in the preseason.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he, Reggie Wayne and Joseph Addai played just a series each.
Donald Brown may get a slightly extended look in the backfield as the Colts try to determine if he’s ready for a workload spike yet. Also, Anthony Gonzalez needs to get some reps in as he tries to return from a serious knee injury and leapfrog Austin Collie on the depth chart as the slot receiver. But who will throw to him? Curtis Painter? Eek.
The 49ers could put on an interesting performance in Week 1 of the preseason.
Their backup to Frank Gore, Glen Coffee, was a preseason hero last year. Speedy Ted Ginn Jr. will want to prove his worth, as will backup quarterbacks David Carr and Nate Davis.
