Jags vs Titans Week 16 Gambling Preview

The Titans (7-7) suffered a HUGE loss last week to the, then, winless Colts and with the loss their playoff hopes took a big hit and they not only need to win out, but they may need some help.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans Preview

The Jags (4-10) have lost 4 of their last 5 games and they only have 1 away win this season. In the first game of the season the Jags beat the Titans 16-14 in a game in Jacksonville. NFL lines have the Titans as 7.5-point home favorites in this game with a total of 40.

In their last games Tennessee was shocked losing to the Indianapolis Colts 27-13 and Jacksonville was crushed losing to the Atlanta Falcons 41-14.

This season Tennessee is 7-7 ATS with an Over/Under record of 4-10 and Jacksonville is 5-8-1 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 4-10.

Matt Hasselbeck has only 1 TD and 5 INT in his last 5 games and he was yanked in the 4th quarter in the loss to the Colts, but will get the start in this AFC South match up. WR Nate Washington is his main target and there is a good chance that Hasselbeck will get back on track facing a Jags’ pass defense that does rank 4th in the league, but is without their top 3 CB’s in Rashean Mathis, Derek Cox and Will Middleton and got torched last week.

Chris Johnson struggled last week, but he had an injured ankle and while the injury was thought to be more serious he will be ready to go in this game. He needs to help his QB out and will be going up against a Jacksonville run defense that ranks 14th in the league. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Rookie QB Blaine Gabbert has not shown that much this season leading a Jags’ passing offense that ranks dead last in the league. He has 14 turnovers in 12 starts this season, but it is not all on him since Jacksonville has one of the weakest WR corps in the league.

The Jags will lean heavily on RB Maurice Jones-Drew, who leads the league with 1,334 rushing yards, and rushed for 112 yards last week against Atlanta and their 4th ranked run defense. This week he will be facing a Titans’ run defense that only ranks 23rd in the league and gave up over 200 rushing yards in the lost to the Colts.

Betting Trends

Jacksonville is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games, 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 road games, and they have an Under record of 6-1 in their last 7 road games.

Tennessee is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against teams with a losing record, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite of 3.5-10 points, and they have an Under record of 4-0 in their last 4 home games.

Jason’s Pick: I think Jones-Drew will have a big game, but the Jags’ defense will struggle again and the Titans will win this game and cover the spread. I would go with the Under in this game since neither team can light up the scoreboard.
