Bills vs Jets Week 12 Gambling Preview

When the Buffalo Bills won their first three games and five of their first seven starts, their fans were the first to remind people that there was still a ton of time left for the team to prove that they deserved to be considered a contender.

Heading into this Sunday’s game against the New York Jets, there isn’t much time left on the clock for a Bills’ team that has lost three straight to fall back to the .500 mark, and things won’t get any easier against a tough AFC East rival.

The Jets’ sideline will be able to relate to what the Bills are going through after consecutive losses brought them back down to .500 as well, including a tough 17-13 loss to a Denver Broncos’ team that represented the low point in their season.

New York has reached the AFC Championship game in each of the past two years, but if they are going to even stand a chance at making the playoffs they are going to have to find a way to win with more consistency. Fortunately for the Jets, they will host Buffalo at MetLife Stadium, where they are 4-1 so far this season. With only one game left on their schedule against a team that currently has a record better than .500, now is the time for New York to turn things around, beginning on offense under center. Jets’ quarterback Mark Sanchez hasn’t been able to progress the way that coaching staff would have liked to this point, and the failure to develop an above-average passing game has led to teams stuffing the box to slow down the run.

While New York has been known for its elite defense under head coach Rex Ryan, the team hasn’t played to its standards this season, a point that was marked by the team’s collapse against the Broncos last week.

For Buffalo, the equation is simple. While the Bills managed to protect the football and force turnovers when they were winning at the beginning of the year, they have done exactly the opposite over the past three weeks. Whether or not the team morale can survive consecutive blowout losses, including last weekend’s 35-8 loss to the Miami Dolphins, only time will tell.

It’s hard to imagine such a drastic turnaround from being blown away by Miami to winning on the road at New York, but in this case the Jets have been too inconsistent not to take the points.
