Tennessee vs Pittsburgh Free Week 6 Preview & Pick

The Tennessee Titans vs. Pittsburgh Steelers will both be trying to pick up a win in Week 6 on Sunday at Heinz Field.

Bet On NFL Football – Denver Broncos vs Green Bay Packers Gambling Preview

Tennessee is the most pleasant surprise in the NFL season in my books.  I thought this was a team that might win 6 games this year and heading into week 5 they are already half way to that total.  Included among them was a victory over the Baltimore Ravens by 13 points, a Ravens team that beat Pittsburgh by 28 in week 1.

So the Titans should win on the road by 41 points right?

For the Titans, the main reason they are exceeding expectations is the stellar play of new quarterback Matt Hasselbeck.  He currently owns a QB rating north of 100 and in just 4 games already has 8 touchdown passes after throwing only 12 all last season.  It hurts that he lost the services of leading receiver Kenny Britt but that could be offset some if running back Chris Johnson starts earning those large paychecks he held out for.

These teams have met in each of the last three season with Pittsburgh holding the edge 2-1.  The last two won by Pitt have been really low scoring affairs with a total of just 52 points scored combined.  Another low scorer could occur with injuries affecting both teams.  I imagine this will be a very physical contest and it is hard to count out the Steelers at home

Pittsburgh

While the Titans have been a pleasant surprise the Pittsburgh Steelers have disappointed.  Many looked at the schedule, and the team, and thought a 12 or 13 win season was in the offing.  Now they are hobbling into week 5 with 2 losses already, including the embarrassment against Baltimore in the opener.  This team has been on the road three out of 4 weeks and a trip back home is definitely welcome right now. As of this writing it looks like quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will play.  Big Ben is super tough but his numbers this year have been poor and contributed to both of the team’s losses.  However, it looks like running back Rashard Mendenhall will be out, though he too has struggled behind poor offensive line play.  His absence means more of Isaac Redman who has been far more effective in limited action.  Third down back Mewelde Moore isn’t likely to go either so the backfield is very thin right now.

Pittsburgh needs to gut out a win this week to try and keep pace with Baltimore until they square off later in the season.  The defense is among the league leaders but it is banged up too with James Harrison out and other starters expected to miss this week.  They really need Troy Polamalu to make some plays and fire everybody else up.

ATS Pick:  Pittsburgh -3.5
Over/Under Pick:  Under
Score Prediction:  Pittsburgh 20 – Tennessee 14
