Minnesota

All you have to do is look at the number to see how unlikely that is, that and the fact that the Vikings have beaten only one team that currently has a winning record – San Francisco.  They are going to be in deep on Sunday.

There is no secret to the Vikings attack.  They want to run the ball and pass as little as possible.  Even less when shifty receiver Percy Harvin isn’t in the lineup and he is questionable for Sunday.

Running back Adrian Peterson, who is banged up, should be ready to go and is looking for his 6th straight 100 yard+ game.  They have only won two of those so the formula is not quite delivering the results they would like.

Beware as the Vikings are just 1-4 ATS away from the confines of the Metrodome this season.  No environment is more polar opposite than Lambeau Field where weather could be a factor this week for sure.  Minnesota last won at Lambeau in 2009 and have lost every game in the series since then, covering just once.  Still a big number though. Green Bay

Just when you thought Green Bay was where they are supposed to be they get spanked.  This team is suffering from injuries for sure but to lose by 28 points to New York was unexpected.  Also, you have to wonder if they skating a bit on reputation and a high quality win against Houston.  The truth is they are just  2-4 against teams with current records better than .500.  Hardly a team poised to dominate on the way to a Super Bowl.

The Giants have a super pass rush and they showed how getting in Aaron Rodgers’ face can make all the difference last week.  Minnesota is not as deep but with end Jared Allen they should be able to get some pressure too.  This seems like the week for Green Bay to focus on balancing the offense.  Minnesota is not going to want to get into a back and forth scoring match anyway so maybe overcommit to it just to prove a point (which might bring the total down).

As a favourite of a touchdown or more the Packers are only 1-2 ATS this season.  Both of the losses were SU victories but it paints an interesting picture, either about the team, the market perception, or both.  Right now I just don’t think you can trust them as a heavy favourite.  The lone cover in this situation was against Arizona a few weeks ago, a team that has become a total disaster since September.
