St. Louis Rams vs. Washington Redskins Preview

On the season the Rams are 6-6 ATS and they have an O/U record of 7-5 and the Redskins are 4-8 ATS and they have an Under record of 7-5.

This season the Redskins are 2-3 at home and the Rams are 2-4 on the road.

In their last games the Rams beat the Oakland Raiders 52-0 and the Redskins lost to the Indianapolis Colts 49-27.

Colt McCoy started for the Redskins last week and he put up big numbers leading the Skins to 27 points. However, the defense failed to show up with the Colts scoring 49 points. That is not good facing a Rams’ team that put on a great offensive performance in their last game putting up 52 points. Now wonder the Rams are the betting favorite.

The Redskins have lost 4 straight and the loss to the Colts meant that they will have their 2nd losing season in a row. The Rams have won 2 of their last 3 games and their offense will face a Washington defense that gave up 487 yards in the loss to Indianapolis.

McCoy passed for 392 yards with 3 TD and 0 INT in the Colts game, but he was sacked 6 times for a loss of 51 yards. In the game Washington repeatedly gave themselves long yardage situations and that cannot happen in this game. Washington has legit WR’s and TE Jordan Reed, but the offensive line needs to give McCoy time to find them.

The Rams had 6 sacks in their win over the Raiders.

Alfred Morris has gone through a sophomore slump this season and in the Indy game he only had 67 yards averaging less than 4 yards per carry. While St. Louis shut out the Raiders their defense still does not rank in the top 15 in the league against the pass or the run.

Shaun Hill was solid in the Oakland win with 183 passing yards with 2 TD and 0 INT. He did not air out often, but when he did he picked up big yards and the Skins secondary cannot let that happen in this game.

Tre Mason has rushed for over 110 yards in 2 of his last 3 games and will face a Washington run defense that ranks a respectable 9th in the league, but gave up 126 yards to a Colts’ team that has struggled to run the ball all season.

NFL Week 14 Betting Trends

* St. Louis is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
* St. Louis is 5-2 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
* St. Louis has an Over record of 7-3 in their last 10 games.
* Washington is 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
* Washington is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games.

4* Cappers NFL Free Pick

Ok, so the Washington defense was embarrassed in their last game, their offensive line could not protect the QB, and they have failed to cover the spread in their last 4 home games. Still, I think McCoy will have another big game and the Skins’ defense will play much better at home.

Bucking the trends in this NFC match up, as Washington will cover and I also think they will get the W.
