New England Patriots vs. Seattle Seahawks Preview

On the season the Patriots are 10-8 ATS and they have an O/U record of 11-7 and the Seahawks are 10-7-1 ATS and they have an O/U record of 10-8.

In their last games the Seahawks came from behind to beat the Green Bay Packers 28-22 in the NFC Championship Game and the Patriots crushed the Indianapolis Colts 45-7 in the AFC Championship Game.

The Patriots are headed to their 6th Super Bowl with Tom Brady at the helm and he should play even though the “Deflategate” investigation is still going on. He heads the dynamic New England offense facing the “Temple of Boom” and the great Seattle defense.

The Seahawks had a HUGE comeback win over the Packers in the NFC title game even though they were down 16-0 at halftime and Russell Wilson threw 4 INT.

Wilson had all of those picks, but he came up with the big plays when it counted and threw the game winning TD in OT. RB Marshawn Lynch rushed for 157 yards in the game and the Patriots’ run defense will be key. They cannot let Lynch and Wilson have big rushing games and if they can keep that from happening they should win. The Seattle offensive line also has to protect Wilson better than they did in the Green Bay game where he was sacked 5 times.

The Pats played a solid game on defense in only allowing 7-point to the Colts and they picked off Indy’s Andrew Luck 2 times and they gave up less than 85 rushing yards.

Brady had another solid AFC title game with 3 TD and 1 INT, but he will be facing a great Seattle secondary that is led by Richard Sherman. Sherman is a little injured, but will play and he has already talked trash about Tom Brady and the Pats. Maybe not the best move, but we shall see.

Brady has a solid WR corps with the likes of Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, and Brandon LaFell as well as, arguably the best TE in the game, Rob Gronkowski, who Sherman also called out. Speaking of Sherman will Brady throw his way? Opposing QB’s have done so 10 times in the playoffs and he has 2 picks and 3 break ups.

The Seattle run defense surrendered 135 rushing yards against Green Bay and while you think of Brady in the Pats’ offense RB LeGarrette Blount was a star against he Colts with 148 rushing yards.

4* Cappers NFL Free Pick

It is interesting that the Patriots have failed to cover the spread in the last 4 Super Bowl games. However, that will change this Sunday. I think Brady will have a big game and the Pats’ defense will make some plays.

The game will be a close one, but the Patriots will win.
