Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys Preview

On the season the Lions are 7-9 ATS and they have an O/U record of 5-11 and the Cowboys are 10-6 ATS and they have an O/U record of 9-6-1.

This season the Cowboys are 4-4 at home and the Lions are 4-4 on the road.

In their last games the Cowboys beat the Washington Redskins 44-17 and the Lions lost to the Green Bay Packers 30-20.

The Cowboys won the NFC East this season and while they are only a .500 team at home on the season they ended the season winning their last 4 games. They are a TD betting favorite over a Lions’ team that had 4 of their 5 losses on the road this season.

In an interesting trend Lions QB Matthew Stafford has lost his last 17 games on the road facing teams with a winning record. He has gotten a lot of help from the defense this season and luckily the team dodged a bullet when Ndamukong Suh’s suspension was overturned.

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The Lions have not won a playoff game since the 1992 season.

Stafford has put up legit numbers this season and it helps since Golden Tate and Calvin Johnson are his top 2 WR’s. Last season Johnson, yeah Megatron, lit up the Cowboys for 329 receiving yards in a 31-30 Detroit win. Stafford may have to carry the load facing a Dallas pass D that only ranks 26th in the league.

The Cowboys rank a solid 9th on run defense and they have to face Joique Bell, Reggie Bush, and a Detroit rushing offense that struggled all season and only ranks 28th in the league in rushing yards per game.

Tony Romo is being mentioned as a MVP candidate, as is DeMarco Murray, who led the league in rushing yards by a wide margin. Suh is back on the field and achors the league’s top-ranked run defense and a pass rush that has the 8th most sacks. WR Dez Bryant and Jason Witten both had solid seasons, especially Bryant, who had 1,320 receiving yards and 16 TD, which led the league for WR’s.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The Lions rank 13th in the league in pass defense and while they have the league’s top-ranked run D Suh is the leader of that unit and last week against he Packers the team gave up 152 rushing yards.

Murray will have a big game and while Stafford may do the same Dallas has a more balanced offense and they will win and cover at home.
