Carolina Panthers vs. New Orleans Saints Preview

On the season the Panthers are 6-6 ATS and they have an O/U record of 7-5 and the Saints are 5-7 ATS and they have an Under record of 9-3.

This season the Saints are 3-3 at home and the Panthers are 1-4-1 on the road.

In their last games the Saints beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 35-32 and the Panthers lost to the Minnesota Vikings 31-13.

The Saints snapped their 3-game losing streak with their last win.

Oh how the Panthers have fallen on hard times, as they have lost 6 straight games and their last 2 came against teams with .500 records. However, as crazy as it sounds with 3 wins they are still in the NFC South race. The Falcons and Saints lead the division at 5-7 and Carolina would have to likely win out and get some help, but it is possible.

The Saints came up with a HUGE win against the Steelers on the road in their last game where QB Drew Brees passed for 5 TD. New Orleans does not face one more team with a winning record this season. Earlier this season at Carolina the Saints crushed the Panthers winning 28-10.

Brees leads the Saints and their 3rd ranked passing offense and he has a slew of weapons including WR Kenny Stills and TE Jeremy Graham. For a change Brees is getting help from the rushing offense that ranks 8th in the league. After somewhat of a bust in the first few years in the league Mark Ingram has had a solid season and rushed for 122 yards in the win over the Steelers.

The Panthers rank 17th in the league in pass defense and 19th in run defense. In the loss to the Vikings they actually played well in those departments, but they had a turnover and had 2 blocked punts, which gave the Vikings great field position.

Cam Newton was so-so in the loss to the Vikings with 1 TD and 1 INT and he was sacked 4 times. He has more INT (6 TD) than TD (5) in his last 3 games and he has to find his main targets of Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olson and not players from the opposing team.

The Saints ‘ pass defense only ranks 28th in the league and while they had 2 picks in the Pittsburgh win they also gave up 435 passing yards and their pass rush only had 1 sack.

Jonathan Stewart had a good game against the Vikings and the Panthers cannot get down in this game early, so they can feed him the rock.

The Saints rank 23rd in the league in run defense and they gave up 103 rushing yards in the win over the Steelers.

Giving 10 points is a lot, but I think Brees will have a big game and the Saints will win and cover.
