Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets Preview

On the season the Bills are 3-4 ATS and they have an O/U record of 1-6 and the Jets are 1-5-1 ATS and they have an O/U record of 4-3.

This season the Jets are 1-3 at home and the Bills are 2-1 on the road.

In their last games the Bills beat the Minnesota Vikings 17-16 and the Jets lost to the New England Patriots 27-25.

The Jets have lost 6 straight games and they are in the basement of the AFC East, However, all 6 losses have come against good teams and they have looked decent in their last 2 games. Their passing offense only ranks 31st in the league, but they made a big trade getting WR Percy Harvin from the Seattle Seahawks this week.

The Jets are the 3-point home favorite facing a Bills team that is over .500 and has won 2 of their last 3 games.

The Bills are coming off a last-second win against the Vikings, but it was a costly W. they lost their 2 leading rushers in the game with C.J. Spiller having a collarbone injury and Fred Jackson suffering a groin injury. Anthony Dixon will take over the rushing duties and while he only has 137 rushing yards this season he is averaging 5.1 yards per carry. He will face a New York run D that ranks 8th in the league.

Kyle Orton has passed for solid yardage and has 5 TD and 3 INT since taking over for E.J. Manuel. Sammy Watkins is his main target and the rookie had a good game against the Vikings with 122 receiving yards and he had the game winning catch late in the game.

While Orton has put up good numbers in the last couple of games the Jets have to be confident facing him after playing decent pass defense in their last 2 games facing Tom Brady and the Patriots and Peyton Manning and the Broncos.

Geno Smith has been less than stellar on the season, but did have a good game against the Patriots. Erik Decker is the lead WR, but overall the WR is a very weak one, which is why Harvin was a great addition. However, will he be up to speed in this game? That is a big question and while the Bills have been solid this season defending the run their pass D only ranks 19th.

The main reason the Jets played a close game with the Patriots was that they rushed for 218 yards with Chris Ivory rushing for 107 yards and Chris Johnson chiming in for 61. If they can run the ball they have a chance, but if not Smith will have to do it all and he has not proved he can do so in his young career.

NFL Week 8 Betting Trends

* Buffalo is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games.
* New York is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games.
* The home team is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 games between these 2 teams.

4* Cappers NFL Free Pick

The Jets are at home, but still going with the Bills, as I think Orton will have a big game and the Buffalo defense will play well.
