Arizona Cardinals vs. Dallas Cowboys Preview

On the season the Cardinals are 5-2 ATS and they have an O/U record of 2-5 and the Cowboys are 5-3 ATS and they have an O/U record of 4-4.

This season the Cowboys are 3-2 at home and the Cardinals are 2-1 on the road.

In their last games the Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-20 and the Cowboys lost to the Washington Redskins 20-17 in OT.

The Cowboys were the hottest team in the league before their loss to the Washington Redskins winning 6 straight. In the loss Tony Romo was knocked out of the game with a back contusion, but he should be able to go in this one. The Cardinals are one of the biggest surprises of the season at 6-1 and they have won 3 straight and are atop the NFC West. However, on the road they are still 4.5-point betting underdogs facing the Cowboys.

Romo has got a lot of help this season with DeMarco Murray leading the Cowboys and their top-ranked rushing offense. However, in this game Romo will face an Arizona pass defense that ranks dead last in the league while their run D ranks 3rd.

The Cardinals are at 6-1, but their offense has not been dynamic even though they have made the big plays when they have needed to. Carson Palmer has been playing well and in the win over the Eagles he passed for 329 yards with 2 TD and 0 INT. Many had written off Larry Fitzgerald, but he was stellar in the Eagles’ game with 160 receiving yards and a TD.

The Dallas pass defense ranks in the middle of the pack (15th) an while they had a pick facing Washington’s Colt McCoy the QB completed 25 of 30 passes for 299 yards and allowed him to conduct the game-tying drive.

While Palmer has been solid the Cardinals have not had much of a ground attack on the season and they only had 71 rushing yards in the Philadelphia game. Andre Ellington is the lead RB and will face a Dallas run D that ranks 19th in the league and allowed the Redskins to rush for 123 yards.

When Romo went out the Dallas’ passing offense struggled even though backup Brandon Weeden did have a TD pass. With Dez Bryant and Jason Witten the Arizona secondary will have their hands full and they cannot count on a pass rush that ranks 2nd to last in the league.

While Murray leads the league in rushing yards and had his 8th straight 100+-yard game against the Redskins he did make some key mistakes. He fumbled the ball deep in the Redskins territory and missed some key blocks for the QB.
