Redskins vs. Seahawks Week 12 NFL Betting Preview

Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals Sunday NFL football. Dave B weighs in with his free pick and updated NFL odds for the week 12 Redskins vs. Seahawks betting matchup.

NFL Free Pick – Redskins vs Seahawks

The slumping Washington Redskins head west on Sunday to take on an emerging Seattle team that has won two straight games. While things appear to be unraveling before our very eyes in Washington, things appear to be coming together for the chronically underachieving Seattle Seahawks.

Spread: Seahawks -4
Moneyline: Redskins +170: Seahawks -195
Over/Under: 37 ½ points

Washington is a mess right now – 6 straight losses and unsure who to play between Rex Grossman or John Beck and Roy Helu or Ryan Torain. The offense doesn’t have a whole lot going for it. The run defense is 30th in the NFL with 84 yards per game and they are 24th in scoring with just 18 points per game. Rex Grossman and the 16th ranked passing game looked OK last week against Dallas so at least that gives them a chance.

Washington’s defense and defensive line in particular have been very good this season. They are 10th against the pass and surprisingly 18th against the run. They Skins allow the 10th least points per game in the league – 20.50.

The Seattle Seahawks have won two straight games and have looked pretty good in the process. There is no denying who the catalyst is behind Seattle’s recent fortunes – Marshawn Lynch has scored a touchdown in six straight games. Lynch is a true workhorse for the Hawks handling the ball nearly 30 times per game in his last three. He has averaged nearly 111 yards rushing in those three with two of those efforts coming against Dallas and Baltimore’s stout run defences. He has been the difference on offense – period! Tarvaris Jackson has done all that could have been expected of him – Seattle ranks 24th in the NFL in passing with 203.40 yards per game. He aint great but he has been doing enough for Seattle’s unspectacular offense. Sidney Rice has been consistently average, Doug Baldwin looks like the real deal and there was even a Mike Williams spotting last week. It’s safe to say that the Hawks passing game won’t lose the game but they likely won’t win it either.

Seattle’s defense is on quite a role. The Hawks played very well at home against Baltimore and held their very good offense largely in check. Last week against the Rams, Seattle limited a red hot Steven Jackson to 42 yards; they had five sacks and forced three turnovers. Seattle’s defense is 15th against the pass and 8th against the run.

Betting Prediction: The Washington Redskins are 0-6 SU and 1-5 ATS in their last six games and are 1-4 SU in their last five on the road. The Skins are 5-2 SU in their last seven against Seattle but are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five versus in Seattle. Washington is 2-9-2 ATS in their 13 games against the NFC West. The Seattle Seahawks are 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games and are 4-2 SU in their last six at home. The Hawks are just 2-4-1 ATS in their last seven games versus Washington.

The Seattle Seahawks are playing their best football of the season while the Redskins clearly are not. With better play and home field advantage, the Hawks appear prime for their third straight win. If Seattle can beat Baltimore at home, Washington should be no problem!

Pick: Seattle Seahawks -4
