The Tennessee Titans, fresh off a disappointing home loss travel to Dallas on Sunday to take on the rested and desperate Cowboys. The Titans have been a middle of the pack football team so far this season, but in reality have their defense to thank for their two wins thus far.

The Tennessee offense has been largely inconsistent this season and while some predicted that it would be, with Vince Young at the helm, nobody could have predicted that Chris Johnson would stumble out of the gate the way he has.

The Titans rank 30th in the NFL in passing offense, partially due to some ineffectiveness on the quarterbacks’ part, but also because of Coach Jeff Fisher’s reluctance to throw the ball with any regularity. Vince Young has attempted the least amount of passes in the NFL among regulars and has completed only about 60% of his attempts. Void of any real threats in the receiving corp., the Titans appear poised to lean on Chris Johnson throughout the season.

Tennessee currently has the 6th ranked running game in the NFL despite super-stud Chris Johnson being held to under 60 yards rushing in two of his past three games. On the season, Johnson is averaging a disappointing 3.4 yards per carry. The fact that the Titans are ranked in the Top 10 despite CJ2’s average numbers speaks to the commitment that the Titans have to the run.

2010 has seen the rebirth of Tennessee’s defense. Although there has been cracks in the secondary (672 yards passing yards allowed in the last two games), the defense is still ranked eighth and is leading the NFL with 16 sacks. Last week, the Titans held Denver to 19 yards rushing and generated six sacks.

The Dallas Cowboys have to be feeling like the luckiest tem in the NFL. Despite losing their first two games, they are still only ½ game out of first place in the NFC East. The Dallas offense is currently ranked fifth in the NFL and the defense has been solid.

Tony Romo has been the Dallas offense so far. He and the deep set of receivers have been playing at a high level all season, but have been sputtering in the Red Zone. Even Roy Williams has looked good!

The Cowboys spent their bye week trying to sort out what has been an absolutely miserable running game. Through three games, the Cowboys running back trio of Barber, Jones and Choice rank sixth (hard to believe that they are so high) in the NFL – a far cry from the enormous expectations in the preseason.

The defense has been hot and cold all season with the run defense continuing to be a strength. They have held their opponents to 83.7 yards per game. The forced turnovers that were lacking in the first two games of the season finally appeared against the Texans when the Cowboys were able to generate three turnovers and sack the quarterback four times.

Betting Prediction:

The Tennessee Titans are 10-4 S/U overall in their last 14 games are 4-1 S/U in their last five games on the road but are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Dallas Cowboys have won seven of their last nine games at home.

The Dallas Cowboys should be healthy and motivated to right the ship on their season. They are a high powered offense that will surely score some points on Sunday. Do I have faith in Tennessee’s abilities to match the Cowboys point for point? The answer is a resounding NO! Tennessee’s offensive strength is their running game and the Cowboys defensive strength is against the run. Chris Johnson isn’t sneaking up on anybody this season and Sunday’s outing could be another long one for him.

Betting Pick: Dallas Cowboys – 6 ½
