Is there a worse team in the NFL right now than the Carolina Panthers? Even the winless Buffalo Bills have some good qualities! Carolina is miserable and now comes word that the only quasi-effective quarterback on the roster, Matt Moore was lost for the season. That’s right folks; we get the pleasure of seeing Jimmy Claussen toss for 85 yards again! That is until John Fox snaps and replaces him with Tony Pike – WHO??? Ya, I know! Brutal.

The passing game is not the only thing wrong with the Carolina offense. DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart are not only injured, but they have also been ineffective. Arguably the most feared rushing tandems in the NFL has a combined 569 yards on the season and is averaging over two yards less per carry than they have in any of the past three seasons. Have no fear Panthers fans, some dude named Mike Goodsen is waiting in the wings to take over primary running back duties just in case Williams and Stewart can’t go on Sunday.

New Flash!! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not the best team in the NFL. Raheem Morris was forced to eat his words a little bit last week after the Bucs loss in Atlanta. Still, Tampa Bay has a decent all around team that may not blow teams out of the water, but will stick around and be a pain in the rear of their opponents.

Tampa’s offense is OK. They are certainly not Top Tier, but they are not at the bottom either. Their passing and rushing offenses are ranked an identical 19th in the NFL. They take care of the ball, limit mistakes and do just enough to win ball games.

Tampa’s defense is another story. Although they have been good against the pass (12th in the league), they have been shredded by opposing running backs to the tune of 147 yards per game. These numbers climb 20+ yards when the Bucs are playing on home turf.

Betting Prediction: The Buccaneers should be a motivated bunch after last week’s loss (they were stopped on a 4th and 1 on the Atlanta 2 yard line with 2 minutes remaining and eventually lost 27-21). The Panthers have owned the Bucs in the past few years but with no passing game and virtually no running game, the Panthers will be hard pressed to score 10 points in this game. Tampa will roll against the undermanned and under-talented Panthers.

Trends:

Carolina is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games when playing on the road against Tampa Bay
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Carolina’s last 6 games when playing on the road against Tampa Bay
The total has gone UNDER in 11 of Tampa Bay’s last 15 games
The total has gone OVER in 4 of Tampa Bay’s last 6 games

Betting Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers -6.5
