New York Giants vs. Carolina Panthers Preview

However, after beating Drew Brees last week now they face Eli Manning, who leads the Giants and their top-ranked passing offense. NFL lines have the Giants as slight 1-point road favorites with a total of 51.

In last Sunday’s games the Giants needed a comeback to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 41-34 and the Panthers beat the New Orleans Saints 35-27.

One big concern for the Giants is that they are so beat up, as RB Ahmad Bradshaw and DB Prince Amukamara and a slew of others are questionable for this NFC game.

The Giants are 0-2 ATS and the Panthers are 1-1 ATS and both teams have an O/U record of 1-1.

Eli Manning leads a great passing attack and he has a great young WR duo in Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz, who are tied for the NFL lead with 237 receiving yards. The Panthers have been decent against the pass ranking 12th in the league and while last week they allowed Brees to pass for 325 yards they did come up with 2 TD.

With Bradshaw a question mark Andre Brown and 1st round draft pick David Wilson may split time in the backfield. The G-Men may want to test the Carolina run defense that only ranks 28th in the league and gave up 110 rushing yards to the Saints’ Pierre Thomas last week. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Cam Newton had 253 passing yards with 1 TD and was also the leading rusher for Carolina with 71 yards in the New Orleans win. Steve Smith is still a big play WR and he and Brandon LaFell will be up against a Giants’ pass defense that has a banged up secondary and only ranks 22nd in the league.

DeAngelo Williams had 14 carries for 69 yards and 1 TD against the Saints and look for Carolina to use him more in this game, facing a Giants run defense that ranks 16th in the league, in order to keep Manning and the great New York aerial attack on the sidelines.

In some betting trends for this NFC game the Giants are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games and they have an Under record of 7-2 in their last 9 games.

The Panthers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games, 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win, and they have an Over record of 5-2 in their last 7 home games.

Jason’s Pick: Have to go with the Giants in this one, as they are a better team and I think their pass rush will get to Newton and pressure him in the pocket. Manning will have another solid game and lead New York to an away win.
