NFL Free Total Pick: Chicago vs. N.Y. Gambling Lines & Handicapping Preview

Week #3:  Bears vs Jets Over Under Predictions

NFL Week betting action sees the Chicago Bears taking on the New York Jets on Monday September 22 at MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands.  Cappers Picks provides free NFL handicapping tips all season long.

The Bears look to build on their comeback victory over San Francisco last weekend while the Jets look to continue their run of solid play.

The more I look at this game the more interesting it seems.

It will be interesting to see whether the Bears can maintain the momentum of their comeback win at San Francisco on Sunday night.

They dominated on the road in the second half, aided by some gaffes from Colin Kaepernick of course but still. It was just the kind of rebound performance Chicago needed after dropping their home opener to Buffalo.

This is a real good opportunity to get another win if they are healthy enough to do so.

It is nice to see that the receivers, the engine of this club, are not on the injured list coming into this week.

The Jets don’t have the same kind of secondary they have had in the past and I expect that Jay Cutler will be able to find some cracks on one side or the other and make some plays.

The fact that the Jets have a strong run defense is likely to be a complete moot issue.

New York

The Jets may only be 1-1 but they are leading in two generally important categories – rushing yards and rushing yards allowed. Nobody considers this team a real threat so it will be interesting if that trend continues and the results are middling, yet a further indication of the NFL being all about the forward pass.

The Jets have shown to be competitive in both of their contests and that is a trend that I do expect to continue throughout the course of the season.

The to this one for New York is going to be playing with a lead.

This is not a team built for catchup but if they are out in front they can be methodical with their offense and stay committed to moving it on the ground Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson and even QB Geno Smith sometimes.

The minute they have to depend on passing game they are in trouble, especially is Eric Decker can’t answer the bell.

NFL Football Handicapping Trends

  • Bears are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games on fieldturf.
  • Bears are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS win.
  • Over is 6-1 in Bears last 7 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
  • Jets are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
  • Over is 10-1 in Jets last 11 games in Week 3.
  • Under is 4-1 in Jets last 5 games on fieldturf.
  • Bears are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 meetings.

NFL Football Week 3 Over Under Prediction:  Chicago +3, Under

Love the value on Chicago here. I would have made them the favourite or at least a pick’em for this one.

NFL Total Score prediction:  Chicago 27 – New York 17

The cushion is nice but I would look strongly at the ML on the Bears as well.
