The Buccaneers are coming off a strong outing against the New Orleans Saints, while the Ravens dropped their last game to the Colts.

Many had high hopes for the Buccaneers entering this season, but the squad just hasn’t been able to live up to them for some reason. A year ago, the team pinned a lot of the blame for their underachieving nature on head coach Greg Schiano, but he’s out of town now and Lovie Smith

Tampa Bay has allowed 31.2 points per game through five weeks, the second-worst total in all of football, while allowing opponents to rack up 412.4 yards per week. Things haven’t even gotten any better, as they’ve surrendered 39 points per game over their last three contests.

A week ago, they gave New Orleans a run for their money but came up short, eventually falling by a score of 37-31 in that one when the Saints won in overtime. New Orleans was able to rack up 511 total yards in that one, and overcame an 11-point deficit in the final quarter to force the extra session.

The team is expected to get linebacker Mason Foster back this weekend, as he returns from a shoulder injury that’s kept him out since Week 2, and the unit is getting healthier overall with players like Gerald McCoy returning to the field.

The biggest boon to the team has been the play of quarterback Mike Glennon, who has represented a major upgrade over veteran Josh McCown, In his two starts this season, Glennon is averaging 275.5 yards through the air with four touchdowns and two interceptions, and now gets to go up against a Ravens defense that ranks 27th in the league against the pass.

The Ravens picked up a season-low 287 total yards against the Colts a week ago. The team moved away from the run somewhat in that one, running the ball 15 times after averaging 33 carries through the first four weeks of the season. With the team averaging 4.7 yards per carry for the year, one would have to figure they go back to the ground in this one.

Free Tampa Bay vs. Baltimore Pick:

The Ravens are a bad road team, and get this one as their second straight away from home, and in the midst of a stretch that sees the team play four out of five on the road. As for the Buccaneers, they’re trending in the right direction, so getting the points here is more than worth it.
