The Pittsburgh Steelers will try to get back in the win column Sunday but have a tough task ahead of them as they take on a confident Carolina squad that has started their season 2-0. Pittsburgh has been tough to figure out so far while the Panthers – they should keep getting better. It should be an interesting affair on Sunday Night Football to say the least.

Steelers
Let’s be perfectly honest – the Steelers laid an egg last week against the Ravens – losing 26-6 to their division rivalry has to sting a bit. But you have to believe that Pittsburgh is a better team than the one that showed up last Thursday night. Hopes are that they prove it Sunday night.

The Steelers offense has been decent this year. Any fears about Ben Roethlisberger have been erased – he’s averaged 290 yards passing per game for the first two games. LeVeon Bell has rumbled for 304 yards and Antonio Brown has been terrific so far as well. The problem is that 90% of football fans couldn’t tell you who else plays offense for the Pittsburgh Steelers. They have turned the ball over four times through two games as well – not good.
Pittsburgh’s defense is what we thought it was going to be. They have been OK, not great so far. Troy Polamalu is still healthy which is a minor victory for this squad already – giving up 170 yards on the ground per game is not. Expect another average game from Pittsburgh’s defense on Sunday night.
Panthers
Cam Newton is back and the Panthers haven’t missed a beat – this team may actually be better than most people predicted. Rookie Kelvin Benjamin has looked like the real deal – 138 receiving yards in two games while eight Carolina receivers already have 20 yards receiving thus far.

With Newton having one game behind him – you have to think the passing game will continue to emerge.
The rushing situation is a different story. DeAngelo Williams is injured leaving Jonathan Stewart to shoulder the load.
Is there a more disappointing rushing duo in the league? The Carolina backs are averaging 3.1 yards per carry with little optimism for much improvement.
Defensively the Panthers will be forced to play without Greg Hardy again – but the media storm doesn’t seem to be dying down.
The good news is that the Panthers played very well in their first game without Hardy – they shut down a hot Detroit team last week recording five sacks – impressive indeed. Luke Kuechly is a stud – a true difference maker.

Carolina’s defense is the difference in this one. They have been dominant in their first two games. Look for Cam Newton’s offense to keep the role going against an average defense and for the Carolina defense to do enough in front of their home town crowd.
This game has 20-13 written all over it.
