Week 6: Detroit vs Minnesota Predictions

NFL Week 5 betting action sees the Detroit Lions taking on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday October 12 at TCF Bank Stadium.  Cappers Picks provides free NFL handicapping tips all season long.

The Lions will look to wash the bad taste of last week’s loss out of their mouth up in Minnesota. The Vikings also need to rebound after getting beatdown by Green Bay.

Detroit

Last week was ugly for Detroit. Not only did they lose at home to Buffalo but it looks like they may have lost two key offensive cogs in Reggie Bush and Calvin Johnson as well. The normally potent Lions attack scored zero points in the second half and barely threatened.

If their defense hadn’t played so well they might have got run right out of their own building. This is a week they need the remaining players to buck and get a win so they can keep pace with Green Bay.

With Johnson out of the game Golden Tate had a nice performance with 134 yards receiving. RB George Winn was also effective on the ground and the Lions are going to have to use him even more with Bush likely joining Joique Bell on the sidelines.

There is still enough talent on offense to get by Minnesota. This would definitely be the spot for rookie TE Eric Ebron to step up.

Minnesota

This was always going to be a bad Minnesota team.

Adrian Peterson is a non-factor and with Teddy Bridgewater out they were forced to go with Christian Ponder.  With all of the pressure off it was the same old with Ponder who is just simply not an NFL calibre quarterback (don’t cry for the guy – his wife is super hot!).

Bridgewater will be back in the lineup this week and with him the Vikings have a much better chance. They will have to play a little defense though.

I know that everyone is excited about Bridgewater in Minny but lets not get too carried away. He has only played one game and it was against a team that is terrible against the pass.

Detroit is actually the top defense in the league right now (in terms of yards).

It is hard to believe but they are making it very difficult for team to run and throw. I am not sure I want to bet Bridgewater will solve them.

NFL Football Week #6 Prediction:  Detroit -1.5

This will not be a very enjoyable game but the Lions will get the win.

4* FREE NFL Score prediction:  Detroit 24 – Minnesota 13

Their defense will make things happen and Matt Stafford will force the issue and not get burned. Sloppy but effective.

Take the value with Detroit.
