The Jaguars defense really stepped up in a big way a week ago to help the team to its first victory of the season. Jacksonville limited the Cleveland Browns to 266 total yards of offense, while registering six sacks.

With that performance, the Jaguars have now allowed an average of 278.0 yards per game over their last two contests after surrendering 435.4 yards per game over the course of their first five games. That came at a cost though, as linebacker Paul Posluszny was lost for the season with a torn pectoral muscle. His 69 tackles led the team through seven games. He’ll be replaced at middle linebacker by J.T. Thomas, who moves over from the outside.

The Jaguars’ rushing attack came to life against the Browns’ pathetic rush defense, churning out 185 rushing yards to up the team’s total number of offensive yards up to 715 over the last two games.

Running back Denard Robinson carried the ball 22 times for a career-best 127 yards while adding a touchdown in the win.

Robinson will be called upon to take some of the pressure off of rookie quarterback Blake Bortles, who has posted a quarterback rating of 68.2 while throwing three touchdown passes and eight interceptions.

As for the Dolphins, their defense has been sneaky good this season, limiting opponents to 313.7 yards of offense on a per game basis, the fourth-best mark in the league. A week ago the unit limited the Bears to 224 yards of offense in a 27-14 win.

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill has begun to turn up his game of late. Over the last three games he has thrown for 799 yards and six touchdowns while completing 72.3 percent of his passes, adding 132 rushing yards in that span.

Free 4* Miami vs Jacksonville Pick:

The Dolphins will be playing their second consecutive road game in this one, which is tough, even if it is close to home.

The Jaguars seemed to figure something out on both sides of the ball last week and it will be interesting to see if they are able to build on that momentum. Additionally, both defenses have stepped up their play of late, meaning points should be at a premium in this one.

The Dolphins are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight road games against opponents with a losing home record.

The under is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these teams, and 33-15 in the Dolphins’ last 48 road games.

The play: Jaguars +6, Under 43
