Free NFL Pick: Jaguars vs. Chargers Gambling Lines & Preview

Week 4 Odds: Jacksonville vs San Diego

The San Diego Chargers (2-1) host the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-3) at Qualcomm Stadium in week 4. Keep on visiting Cappers Picks for the latest free NFL picks from our handicappers all season long.

San Diego is a notorious slow starter, but they’re out to an early two wins after beating the Bills (22-10) in Buffalo last week. Jacksonville is the worst team in the NFL and they’ve been blown out each week.

I don’t have the numbers, (I know Cappers Picks does), but the Chargers always seem to play well as double digit favorites. Philip Rivers is as competitive as they come and he isn’t the type of QB to play through the motions.

Prior to the start of the season all of the talk around Jacksonville was that the defense would be improved after some signing they made. However, they’re allowing 39.7 PPG (32nd) and 466.0 YPG (32nd).

The Jaguars rank dead last against the pass (306.0 PYPG) and run (160.0 RYPG). The Eagles, Redskins and Colts were all able to move the football at will, so I see no reason why the Chargers can’t either.

Rivers should have a big game at home. SD has played once at home this season and they put up 30 points on SEA. Rivers threw for 284 passing yards in that game, so 300+ yards is in the cards this week.

Ryan Matthews is still injured and that has hurt the Chargers run game. They’re only averaging 78.7 RYPG, but against the Jaguars that number should improve even with Matthews on the sidelines.

The Jags are going with Blake Bortles the rest of the season. He had some bright spots in the 2H against Indy, but he also threw 2 INT’s. I have a feeling he’s going to struggle in his first career start.

SD plays strong defense, as they allow 16.3 PPG (4th) and 327.7 YPG (10th). Jacksonville is going to work on getting some experience for Bortles, but it’s going to be a long season with a lot of losses.

I expect Rivers to shine early in this game and afterwards Donald Brown will pound the football. The Jags are unlikely to score much and I also expect the Chargers defense to force 2+ turnovers at home.

Week 4 NFL Gambling Trends

  • JAC are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games in Week 4.
  • Over is 7-2 in JAC last 9 road games.
  • Over is 9-3 in JAC last 12 games overall.
  • Under is 12-2 in SD last 14 vs. AFC.

Free NFL Pick: Jaguars vs. Chargers

The Chargers beat the Jaguars (24-6) on the road last season. Jacksonville is a mess on both sides of the football and SD is playing well. This is a lot of points to cover, but it’s the best bet for this match-up.

4* Free Pick On San Diego Chargers –13 (-110)

SD is on a 5-0 ATS run right now while the Jaguars are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 on the road. If you’re still in a survivor pool the Chargers are the best team to use up this week, as I don’t see any surprises here.
