It’s a testament to how important a starting QB really is to any NFL team when you look at the odds in this game. When a 7-5 team goes on the road to play a 9-3 team, it’s a rare day that the team with the inferior record is favoured, if only by a single point.

That’s where the Chiefs find themselves this week however, and the Cardinals sport a perfect 6-0 record at home this year but find themselves as slight underdogs. Not a lot of faith in Cards’ QB Drew Stanton from the odds makers, and with good reason as the Cardinals have been pretty lackluster of late and are at risk of losing their grasp on the NFC West, despite starting the season 9-1.

Cardinals

What a difference two weeks can make in the NFL. This season was looking as though it would be the one where the Cards would dethrone both Seattle and San Francisco and take the NFC West crown. The Cardinals are still on top of the division, but a two game losing skid coupled with the Seahawks rattling off back to back wins has the division race as tight as it’s been all season.

The loss of starting QB Carson Palmer has been a big setback for Arizona who have managed just one touchdown on their last 29 offensive drives. Coach Bruce Arians needs to find a way to get this team scoring and quick. While the Chiefs may not bolster the most dynamic attack in their own right, Arizona will have to find a way to get the ball in the end zone against the tough Chiefs D that was pretty effective against Peyton Manning last week.

Arizona may need to lean heavily on a pretty strong defense corps of their own, which leads the NFL in fourth quarter takeaways, and they are probably going to need at least one more this week if they want to hang in.

Chiefs

There is a lot riding on this game for both team but it’s hard to say the Chiefs don’t have more at stake. Two weeks ago they were sitting in a tie with Denver atop the AFC West at 7-3, but a demoralizing loss to the Oakland Raiders was followed up by a loss to the Broncos and just like that the Chiefs find themselves in third in the West and scrambling to not fall out of the playoff picture completely.

The offense of KC is functional at best really, and aside from their decimation of the Patriots way back when, the Chiefs have not lit the scoreboard up. In their last five games the Chiefs have not eclipsed the 24 point mark and twice failed to put up more than 20.

It’s pretty easy to see why this game has the lowest point total of any game in Week 14 as this figures to be a defensive battle determined by field position and turnovers.

Week 14 Chiefs vs. Cardinals 4* Free Pick

With one point as the spread this is essentially a pick’em and I do like the Chiefs to come in and “upset” the Cardinals and end their unbeaten run at U of Phoenix Stadium.

That’s a gut feeling on my end but it really is a dice roll. My safe money this week is on the UNDER 40 as I don’t see this one being much for the viewers in the way of an offensive showcase. Look for this one to end 21-13 for someone, go with the under.
