Free NFL Pick: Cardinals vs. Broncos Gambling Lines & Preview

Week 5 Odds: Arizona vs Denver

I’m looking forward to the Arizona Cardinals (3-0) and Denver Broncos (2-1) game this weekend. Be sure to continue coming back to Cappers Picks for our latest free NFL picks for the rest of the season.

Arizona is one of two undefeated teams with wins over the Chargers, Giants and 49ers. Denver is fresh off a loss to the Seahawks (26-20). Both of these teams had a bye week in W4 and are well prepared.

The Cardinals are giving up 15.0 PPG (3rd), 71.7 RYPG (4th) and 244.7 PYPG (18th). The secondary has had some troubles though.

Drew Stanton looked better in W3 and he’ll get the start again this week. Carson Palmer is week-to-week, but it looks like he could miss a few more starts. Arizona is currently averaging 22.0 PPG (19th).

The pass game is averaging 230.0 PYPG (16th) while the run game is struggling (105.7 RYPG – 21st). Arizona is also banged up at RB, as Andre Ellington has been limited in practice, but he’ll be fine to play.

For Arizona to beat Denver they need Stanton to have success through the air. Denver has been poor at stopping the pass (285.3 PYPG – 31st), but they only allow 105.3 RYPG (12th) and 22.3 PPG (13th).

On the offensive side of the football for the Broncos there are some question marks. We haven’t really seen the juggernaut offense that we’ve come to expect from a Peyton Manning led offense.

Denver is scoring 25.0 PPG (12th) while averaging 264.0 PYPG (10th) and 75.3 RYPG (28th). It’s not like the offense is playing bad, but they’re not putting up the 40+ points that many expect each week.

Arizona has always been a tough team to play against when they’re at home, but they’ve never been that strong of a road team. This year they have a road win over the Giants, but that was back in W2.

It’s hard to know whether the Cardinals will come out flat or not this week. Both teams have had a lot of time to prepare for this game and I expect the Broncos will have a game plan to shutdown Stanton.

One player I expect to step up for the Broncos is Julius Thomas. He was very quiet in Denver’s loss, but the Cardinals are one of the worst teams at defending the TE position and Thomas will exploit that.

Free NFL Pick: Arizona Cardinals vs. Denver Broncos

Denver is 0-4 ATS in their last four games and while the Cardinals don’t normally win on road they have actually gone 5-0 ATS in their last five road games. This point spread is just too big to take Denver.

Arizona Cardinals +7.5 (-110)

You never know when Manning is going to go off for 40 points, but the Cardinals defense is stingy and I don’t expect the Broncos to air it out too much. They’ll be happy with grinding out a victory.
