Detroit

Sure they looked sluggish in the opener against the Rams but lots of teams did.

Following that up with a loss at San Francisco is nothing to be ashamed of – that team will probably not lose a home game all season long.

This week might be a truer test.  If they are truly a good team they should have little trouble with Tennessee.

Looking at individual performances so far and the season has gone pretty much as expected.

Calvin Johnson is averaging more than 100 yards per game receiving despite the fact that Matt Stafford hasn’t been as precise as we are used to throwing the ball.  The defense has been alright thus far, in fact maybe better than expected against the pass.

It has helped that they have pressured the QB with 7 sacks over two games.

If you like the Lions get down on them soon because I think this number is only going to go up as gametime approaches.  Detroit should be able to move the ball well against the Titans which is why I think there is good value on this number.

All the way up to 6.5 but why wait.

Tennessee

Before the season started it looked like the Titans would be the second best team in the AFC South.  That still might be the case but if it is then it means that division is probably the worst one going right now.  Through a couple of losses this team has been pretty awful on both defense and offense. With an experienced quarterback at the helm they still have room to sink even further.

Chris Johnson – the worst value in the NFL (prove me wrong).

I know running backs need blocking and such but if you are really the fastest player in the league you should have more than 21 yards in 2 games.  QB Jake Locker leads the team in rushing and that doesn’t work well in the NFL.

I hate to beat a dead horse but Johnson is not even averaging 1.5 yards per carry.  Still that doesn’t mean he won’t gouge a Lions defense that is far from the league’s best.

Based on what we have seen so far I just don’t see how Tennessee is going to generate enough offense to keep this game close.

As the home team you can assume they are getting three points grace which makes them 7 points worse than Detroit, I totally agree.

In fact I would make that number regardless of the venue.

Spread Pick:  Detroit -3.5
O/U Pick:  Over
Score Prediction:  Detroit 34 – Tennessee 20
