2011 Regular Season Opponents

Mon, Sept. 12 @ Miami Long-time New England hero Tom Brady and his Top 10-calibre offense plan on starting things out right in south Florida in the season’s first Monday nighter.

Sun, Sept. 18 SAN DIEGO Two of the AFC’s best quarterbacks in Brady and San Diego’s Philip Rivers will plan to one-up each other in Foxboro, as both defenses have sometimes been known to give up the long bomb.

Sun, Sept. 25 @ Buffalo The Pats probably plan on making a stop at Buffalo’s Anchor Bar after the game for some celebratory chicken wings; it’s not too cavalier to expect to see them there.

Sun, Oct. 2 @ Oakland The first three road games on the schedule for the Patriots are quite winnable. For a team that’s been streaky in the past, it’s very advantageous to get the momentum rolling early in the regular season.

Sun, Oct. 9 NEW YORK JETS This match-up is absolutely one of the season’s defining games for New England. The AFC East division is no longer a one-horse race and the Jets look to be in a dogfight with the Patriots for the foreseeable future.

Sun, Oct. 16  DALLAS New England gets a couple trickier home contests in October, but unless Dallas’ secondary coach has worked wonders this off-season, the Patriots have the tools to dismantle the Cowboys where Big D is most vulnerable.

Sun, Oct. 23 BYE

Sun, Oct. 30 @ Pittsburgh The month of October is where New England really settles into the teeth of its schedule. Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall has the skills to post triple-digit rushing yardage efforts; elite young MLB Jerod Mayo will be kept busy for the visitors.

Sun, Nov. 6 NEW YORK GIANTS New England hosts a second Big Apple team in less than a month. The Giants have a potentially excellent team that can win whenever they want to, but there always seems to be a couple major variables looming over the heads of the G-Men.

Sun, Nov. 13 @ New York Jets After this grueling road game, the Pats will probably be sick and tired of the YES Network, Spike Lee and Seinfeld re-runs. That’s a heavy dose of the Empire State for one month.

Mon, Nov. 21 KANSAS CITY This edition of MNF is an intriguing one. Chiefs pivot Matt Cassel plays his old team and New England’s battle-tested winning formula comes up against a quick strike offense and special teams unit in KC.

Sun, Nov. 27 @ Philadelphia The Chowdah Eatahs draw yet another daunting NFC East opponent in the Eagles. Philly QB Michael Vick could have a highly productive day throwing the pigskin.

Sun, Dec. 4 INDIANAPOLIS In the NFL’s best rivalry of the last decade, the Colts can’t run the ball or stop the run. New England RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis just cracked 1,000 yards last year, but that didn’t prevent the Pats’ brain trust from drafting two running backs in the first three rounds of the Draft.

Sun, Dec. 11 @ Washington The Redskins might play some stingy defense, but they likely don’t have the aerial attack to exploit New England’s only notable weakness.

Sun, Dec. 18 @ Denver The weather could be downright inclement for this game, so it’s a good thing the Patriots are used to windy, cold Gillette Stadium this time of year.

Sat, Dec. 24 MIAMI The Patriots will put their best coverage guys on Miami WR Brandon Marshall; for Miami to get a good yield in this game, other secondary weapons must have a big day – in what will probably be foul weather at that.

Sun, Jan. 1 BUFFALO Somewhere along the line, the Bills and their fans have to start getting really sick of always getting thumped by Boston’s NFL representation.
