Troy Trojans is red-hot right now. The Trojans, after starting the season with defeats suffered at the hands of Bowling Green (31-14) and #1 Florida (56-6), have won six of their last seven in the NCAA football odds, beating every opponent the Sun Belt has to offer, scoring a minimum of 30 points in each of their last six, with only Florida Atlantic and Louisiana-Lafayette in their way of an undefeated conference season and a mandatory berth in the New Orleans Bowl, but they have this very difficult out-of-conference test to undertake.

As you already know, Arkansas Razorbacks got oh-so-close to beating Florida last month, and the Razorbacks have scored resounding wins over the likes of Texas A&M, Auburn and South Carolina. Bobby Petrino’s team, which ranks 9th in the country in scoring, can put up a lot of points in a hurry. Ryan Mallett, the starting quarterback who transferred from Michigan because he didn’t want to do Rich Rodriguez’s run-based spread offense, has proven to be worth the wait, with an 18-3 ratio of TD passes to interceptions, and has completed 37 of 43 passes in Arkansas’ last two games. he has not tossed a pickoff in his last four contests.

Arkansas’ secondary, which has allowed 271 yards a game through the air, is not sound, however, and you have to respect what Troy can do on offense. Quarterback Levi Brown is rated in the top 20 of the NCAA passing statistics, and has averaged 372 yards over his last four games. Hitting at an impressive 65% rate, Brown has a lot of people he can spread the ball around to; eleven different receivers have at least 100 yards this season.

Troy is a program that gets up for these games and can make good teams sweat; they led LSU 31-10 in the fourth quarter last year before losing, if you recall, and they beat Oklahoma State in 2007. They can be competitive, and they will undoubtedly go down swinging. We’re taking the points with the Trojans, the 13.5-point underdogs in the BetUS college football odds.
