Week 11: Wildcats vs. Golden Bears Preview/Pick

Oddsmakers currently have the Golden Bears listed as 3-point favorites versus the Wildcats, while the game’s total is sitting at 55½, here is a preview for the Arizona Wildcats vs. Cal Golden Bears plus a pick and lines betting angle…

Week 11 – ARIZONA WILDCATS @ CALIFORNIA GOLDEN BEARS

Date: Saturday November 14, 7:00 EST
Site: Berkeley, CA
BetUS LINE: Cal -3

Preview:

Surprisingly, the Wildcats are in the thick of the race for conference supremacy. Sophomore transfer QB Nick Foles has been doing everything right for Arizona to this point. He had a tall order taking over for career passing leader Willie Tuitama, but the offense has clicked all season to this point.

While the Wildcats have a three-game losing streak at Cal, the Bears will be without their vital cog, running back Jahvid Best. ‘Zona also comes on the coattails of back-to-back easy wins against UCLA and pathetic Washington State. For the Bears to win this game, they’ll have to get the Kevin Riley-to-Marvin Jones connection working early and often. Backup running back Shane Vereen is capable, but the absence of Best leaves a sizable hole in the Cal attack.

When pivot Riley plays well, Cal tends to win and needless to say, that trend must continue versus an underrated Arizona defense.

This is a big game for both conference and bowl positioning, so rest assured that both squads will show up to play. How Foles handles the unfriendly confines of Memorial Stadium (though Bears fans aren’t known as the most rambunctious), how Cal’s passing attack materializes and which defensive unit creates the most havoc in the backfield will determine who comes away with this closely-contested tilt.

2009 Team Stats – Total Offence: Cal 41st
Arizona 13th

Total Defense: Stanford: Cal 78th
Arizona 17th
