Ball State

The Cardinals (1-0) rolled over the Colgate Raiders 30-10 in their season opener last week, rolling up 311 rushing yards on 53 carries and a touchdown.

Most of that success came by way of its pounding ground attack, which consisted of Horactio Banks and Jahwan Edwards, who both rushed for 100 yards.

Meanwhile, quarterback Ozzie Mann passed for two touchdowns and more than 200 yards of the Cardinals 500-plus offensive yards.

Defensively, Ben Ingle led Ball State with 11 tackles, while as a unit, the defense allowed 227 yards, including less than 100 rushing yards.

Iowa

Iowa (1-0) barely survived its opener against the Northern Iowa Panthers, hanging on to a 31-23 win.

Quarterback Jake Rudock led the way offensively for the Hawkeyes, completing 31-of-41 for 250 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Not bad for his first game.

Rounding out a balanced Hawkeyes’ offense was a rushing attack that utilized seven different players that carried the ball for an average of 4.2 yards per carry and two touchdowns.

Nevertheless, as good as the Iowa offense is, it’s defense is what makes this team dangerous.

As a unit, the Hawkeye’s held Northern Iowa to just 25 rushing yards and game away with a pair of sacks and an interception.

Week 2 NCAA Football Spread Prediction

Iowa is a much bigger and talented team, and even though the Cardinals were able to score at will against the Raiders, I don’t think they are going to be good enough against better competition.

This is the type of game where the Hawkeyes will pull away in the second half after wearing down the Cardinals defense.

I smell a blowout, especially at home.

Score Prediction: 4* Play on Iowa 31, Ball State 24
