Georgia Bulldogs vs. Vanderbilt Commodores Gambling Prediction & Week 8 Preview

Georgia vs Vanderbilt College Football Spread/Handicapping

Georgia had very high expectations coming into the season but with two losses already most of those are already out the window. Last week they lost to Mizzou and it will be interesting to see the kind of effort they put forth on the road this week with the emotional drainage of their season being a disappointment as well as a host of injuries still to deal with.

Vandy also had high expectations this year based on last year’s extraordinarily high victory total but they are about right where they should be to be frank.

This team is struggling to beat the really good team’s in their league (just like they did last year) and the game on Saturday will likely be another example.

Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs will be walking wounded again this week. Last week QB Aaron Murray proved that he can put up numbers with a weakened supporting cast but winning is another story as he once again failed to get Georgia past a ranked opponent – its tough but fair criticism I think.

With running backs Todd Gurley and Richard Marshall out Georgia turned to a couple of unheard of backs last week and still won the rushing battle against Mizzou thanks to a strong and experienced offensive line.

Against Vanderbilt they should be able to do the same and if history is any indicator Murray will bounce back to lead the team to victory. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

It might be bittersweet but there is still a chance that the Dawgs could wind up back in the SEC Championship game depending on how things play out.

Vanderbilt

If Vanderbilt played in any other conference we might think they are a pretty good program for a strong academic school. However, since they play in the SEC they are much harder to get a read on, especially this year in which they have won all their non-conference games while losing all their SEC tilts thus far. Odds are that trend continues with Georgia coming to town on Saturday.

Even hobbled the Dawgs still have more talent than the Commodores, especially where it matters most at quarterback.

Wyoming transfer QB Austyn Carta-Samuels has been just ok at the helm of Vandy. His throwing numbers are solid but he hasn’t been as productive running the ball as I would have thought based what we saw of him with the Cowboys.

Vandy can hold their own on offense though so the real key will be the defense on Saturday.

They give up a lot of yards and that is going to make it tough for them to pull the upset, unless Carta-Samuels unleashes some of that Cowboy magic.

Spread Pick: Vanderbilt +7.5
O/U Pick: Over
Score Prediction: Georgia 38 – Vanderbilt 35
