It was a close one-point affair as Jaquez Johnson rushed for 78 yards and threw for 187 yards as the Owls lost its fifth game of the 2013 season.

FAU, however, has been competitive in most of its contests this season, averaging 22 points and 374 yards per game.

Johnson has been a big part of the Owls ability to move the ball game in and game out, completing 61 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and five interceptions, to go along with 341 rushing yards and five touchdowns. He has been getting hotter as the season progresses, with 807 passing yards, 217 rushing yards and 10 total touchdowns over his last three games.

The Tigers meanwhile, have won three straight after beating the Aggies, 45-41 their last time out. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The potential national-championship contenders were able to hold A&M’s Johnny Manziel to 48 yards rushing and sacked him three times, while QB Nick Marshall completed 11-of-23 pass attempts for 236 yards to lead the Tigers to their sixth win.

With that Marshall has now completed 57 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and four interceptions, while rushing for 388 yards and four touchdowns. He will now face an Owls defense that  is allowing just 26 points and per game with six interceptions, four fumble recoveries and a whopping 15 sacks.

Defensively, Auburn is greatly improved over where they were last season, as they allow 22 points and 428 yards per game with nine interceptions, two fumble recoveries and 19 sacks.

Matt’s Free Prediction

The Owls have some serious talent on their roster, but just not as much as their opponent this week.

The Tigers won the only previous meeting between the two schools, which was a 30-14 decision in 2011.

With that I don’t expect the outcome of this one to be any different.

Auburn 41, Florida Atlantic 13
