Temple has zero conference wins, but despite falling in their past two contests have been better since deciding to hand the offense to dual threat quarterback PJ Walker.

Central Florida (7-1) meanwhile, strung four straight wins together following a 19-14 defeat over visiting Houston last weekend. The Knights overcame three turnovers to hold on for the win as the clock expired.

Freshman running back William Stanback logged nine carries for a career-high 74 yards and two touchdowns , while quarterback  Blake Bortles had his worst outing of the season, tossing for just 210 yards and one interception.

Defensively, the Knights held the Cougars in check, picking off quarterback John O’Korn two times and stopping a game-winning drive on the seven-yard line with 14 seconds remaining.

In the meantime, the Owls (1-8) also overcame three turnovers and led with a minute left, but were edged out 23-20 by Rutgers their last time out.

The Temple defense collapsed on a fourth-and-10 with 35 seconds to play, to allow the Scarlet Knights its fifth straight win over the Owls.

Nevertheless, the Owls looked much better with Walker at the helm. The freshman quarteback was decent through the air, throwing for 203 yards and two touchdowns, but was intercepted twice.

And while the Owls offense has kept them in games in recent weeks, it has become clear that their defense is still a year away at the least.

However, the lone bright spot on that side of the ball is linebacker Tyler Matakevich, who recorded 10 tackles to bolster his AAC-leading total to 113.

Matt’s Free Prediction

Central Florida has been impressive all year long, and have been really good on the road where they have beaten a top 10 team and won at Beaver Stadium.

So, I think it’s safe that you can expect this trip back to Pennsylvania to be much less arduous as the Knights have the edge just about everywhere on the field and should run away with this contest fairly easily.

The Knights to get the cover on the road in this one.

Central Florida 42, Temple 17
