Kansas Jayhawks vs. No. 7 Kansas State Wildcats Preview

Kansas State is coming off a huge win over Oklahoma and they are at 4-0 and they have a great defense. NCAAF lines have Kansas State as big 24-point home favorites with a total of 53.

In their last games Kansas State beat Oklahoma 24-19 while Kansas lost to Northern Illinois 30-23.

This season Kansas is 1-2-1 ATS with an Over/Under record of 0-3 and Kansas State is 3-1 ATS with an Over/Under record of 2-1.

Kansas State is led by duel threat QB Collin Klein, who does not air it out much with the Wildcats 106th ranked passing offense, but he is the team’s 2nd leading rusher. KSU has the nation’s 14th ranked rushing offense and Klein and RB John Hubert, who rushed for 130 yards against Oklahoma, will be a handful for the Kansas defense.

Kansas only ranks 90th in the nation in rushing defense and that is one of the main reasons they are such big underdogs. In the loss to Northern Illinois the Jayhawks gave up 220 rushing yards.

Ex Notre Dame QB Dayne Crist leads Kansas and like KSU the Jayhawks are led by their rushing offense. Crist has 763 yards with only 2 TD and 4 TD and he does not have a very good WR corps. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

For the Jayhawks to pull off the big road upset they will need a good game from RB’s Tony Pierson and Taylor Cox, who both struggled to run the ball in the loss to Northern Illinois. That will be far from easy, as the Kansas State run defense is solid ranking 15th in the nation. Pierson has 65 rushing yards in the last 2 games after totaling 244 in the first 2.

Kansas State is tough to beat at home and they have won 12 straight over unranked opponents at home by an average of almost 18 points per game.

In some betting trends for this Big 12 match up Kansas is 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 road games, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record, and they have an Under record of 4-0 in their last 4 games.

Kansas State is 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games overall, 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game, and they have an Over record of 5-0 in their last 5 home games.

Kansas State is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 home games facing Kansas.

Jason’s Pick: KSU is giving 24 points, but still have to go with them since they have such as good rushing offense and Kansas will not be able to stop them from tearing them up on the ground.
