Arizona and Kansas State both moved inside the top-10, while a loss by Mississippi State pushed them to the fringes of the top-10.

1. Alabama Crimson Tide (11-1, previous: 2)

Alabama picked up a big win in the Iron Bowl, knocking off Auburn in a game in which the team’s offense really came alive. Wide receiver Amari Cooper surely earned himself a trip to New York with his performance in that one. The Tide have one last box to check off on their route to the inaugural College Football Playoff, taking on Missouri in the SEC title game.

2. Florida State Seminoles (12-0, previous: 1)

Florida State had a little more trouble with instate rival Florida than it should have had on its home field, escaping by five points and failing to cover the spread for the 10th time this season.

Next up is Georgia Tech, and a loss in the ACC title game would surely knock the Seminoles right out of playoff contention.

3. Oregon Ducks (11-1, previous: 3)

A trip to Corvallis could have given Oregon more trouble than it wound up having, but the Ducks not only won in a tough spot – they scored some serious style points. They now need to exorcize some demons when they host Arizona in the title game on Friday.

4. TCU Horned Frogs (10-1, previous: 6)

It looked like Baylor was going to stay ahead of TCU for good, but the Horned Frogs scored some serious style points with a decisive victory at Texas, helping the team leapfrog Baylor in the rankings once again. Now they just need to get past Iowa State at home to earn a share of the Big 12 title.

5. Baylor Bears (10-1, previous: 5)

With TCU racking up style points, Baylor needed some of its own, but instead barely scraped past Texas Tech, and saw quarterback Bryce Petty get hurt along the way. A date with Kansas State in its regular season finale will be a tough final date.

6. Ohio State Buckeyes (11-1, previous: 7)

The Buckeyes had a little more trouble with rival Michigan than they probably should have, but they did come away with a two-score victory. The team lost J.T. Barrett along the way, and now need to take on Wisconsin in Indianapolis without him.

7. Michigan State Spartans (10-2, previous: 10)

Michigan State closed out its regular season schedule with a victory over Penn State, but the Spartans have no more bullets in their gun and are out of the running for the playoff.

8. Arizona Wildcats (10-2, previous: 12)

Arizona’s improbable run continues into the Pac-12 title game with a key win over instate rival Arizona State. They’ve knocked off Oregon once already this season, and the Wildcats would have a shot at qualifying for the inaugural College Football Playoff if they can do it again.

9. Kansas State Wildcats (9-2, previous: 11)

Kansas State beat up on Kansas on Rivalry Weekend, coming away with a decisive 38-point victory. The Wildcats don’t have a shot at getting into the playoff, but they can play spoil for Baylor.

10. Mississippi State Bulldogs (10-2, previous: 4)

Mississippi State picked a bad time to go cold after a hot start, falling to Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl over the weekend. They’ll be off until Selection Sunday, but figure to land in a quality bowl game as a top-10 team.

Dan Mullen’s team took some major strides forward this season, and that’s going to mean good thiings in the years ahead.
