Butch Jones got a win in his first game as head coach of the Volunteers, which also happened to be the program’s 800th win as well. Since then, Tennessee has had it’s struggles against ranked opponents while dominating the rest.

Georgia has a faced a gauntlet already this season, with 3 top quality opponents already out of the way.

Aaron Murray has earned all of those pre-season award nods and watch list spots as well as last week’s National Player of the Week. He has been the real deal since returning for his final season in hopes to finally bring his Bulldogs back to the promised land. On the season, Murray is 79 of 116 for 1338 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. He also has 20 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns on the year.

On the ground, running back Todd Gurley has 71 carries for 450 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also has 42 yards receiving and a touchdown. Behind him is Keith Marshall with 51 carries for 213 yards and a touchdown. Marshall also has 111 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Leading the Bulldogs in receiving is Justin Scott-Wesley, who has 14 catches for 289 yards and 2 touchdowns. Not far behind him is Chris Conley with 254 yards and 2 touchdowns. Four other receivers have reached the 100 yard plateau this season as well.

On defense, the dynamic linebacking duo of Ramik Wilson and Amarlo Herrera have been leading the team. Wilson has registered 37 tackles on the season, 2.5 for loss and a pass defended. Herrera has 36 tackles, 1.5 for loss, .5 sacks, 4 passes defended and a forced fumble. As a whole, the defense has combined for 9 sacks, 1 interception, 18 passes defended, 1 forced fumble and 2 fumble recoveries.

Tennessee

Tennessee has seen its ups and downs already this season. Coming in at 3-2, Butch Jones’ first season at the helm of the Volunteers has been a learning experience. The offense has been sparked by the rushing of running back Rajion Neal who has 468 yards and 5 touchdowns on the season. Keeping the ground game dangerous is running back Marlin Lane who has 280 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns on the year.

Behind center is Justin Worley, who has taken over for the departed quarterback Tyler Bray. On the season, Worley is 65 of 116 for 725 yards, 8 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Worley has a trio of receivers who have similar stats: Alton Howard has 148 yards and 2 touchdowns, Josh Smith has 138 yards and 1 touchdown and Marquez North has 132 yards and no touchdowns.

On defense, the Volunteers have racked up some notoriety. They are tied for the lead in interceptions (with Virginia Tech) with 11 and 3rd in the nation with turnovers forced with 15. As a whole, they have tallied 27 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 32 passes defended 3 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries and a blocked kick.

Leading the team in tackles is Brian Randolph with 37. Randolph has 2 of the tackles for loss, 3 interceptions and 4 passes defended. A close second in tackles is A.J. Johnson who has 35 on the season as well as 3 tackles for loss and a pass defended.
