Toledo

The Rockets might not have impressed in September but they have been perfect in MAC play and that is despite losing promising transfer QB Philip Ely in the second week of the season.

At 5-0 they are in the driver’s seat in the MAC West and for the first time in a while the Huskies are chasing them and not the other way around.

This week they are facing the proposition of not having reserve QN Logan Woodside either, which is no line on the game at present.

If Woodside is out it puts even more pressure on the Rockets running game, which is the best part of their team. Kareem Hunt is that typical small conference back but he yields to few in terms of production. He missed a few weeks due to injury but he has rushed for better than 100 yards in all of his starts this season.

Freshman backup Terry Swanson has also been a terror averaging almost 7 yards per carry. He is a little small to carry the load but if you blink he is gone.

Northern Illinois

The Huskies are not going to be barrelling into the playoffs this season but with a strong finish they can reach double-digit victories for a fourth season in a row.

In this one they will be looking to jump on top of the West with a victory, potentially setting up a huge tilt with Western Michigan in the final week of the season.

This year’s team is a little less balanced than they have been in the past. The running game is still punishing but Jordan Lynch has proved pretty hard to replace.

Quarterback Drew Hare has been doing his best but he has not been helped by the fact that receiver Tommy Lee Lewis has been out for the season since the third week.

Without balance and that confidence Lynch had to plow through every situation it has just been more difficult this season.

The Huskies are picking up steam since losing to Central Michigan at home and the only other team to beat them this season was Arkansas…so look out.

NCAA Football Week #12 Prediction:  Northern Illinois -4.5

If there was more certainty at QB for Toledo I think we would have one that goes down to the wire.

4* FREE NCAAF Score prediction:  Northern Illinois 38 – Toledo 28

At home, midweek, potential blackout, you have to go with the Huskies. They can cover a TD easy.
