Texas Tech

Texas Tech is doing their usual thing of faltering when the competition stiffens. A few weeks back against Arkansas they proved that they are far from being a real threat in the B12 this season, a fact that is likely to be confirmed again this weekend on the road at Kansas State. The Red Raiders are one of the most pass heavy teams around but this week it looks like they will be without starting quarterback Davis Webb. Odds are they have someone else who can sling it but they will be starting in the road against a good team.

Starting quarterback or no the Red Raiders are going to thrown the ball. Backup Patrick Mahomes is just a freshman but you don’t go to Lubbock unless you are looking to sling the ball around. Given Tech’s history it is very possible the offense doesn’t miss a beat but I am not sure I would want to bet on it. Kansas State is always a very cerebral team and you can bet they will look to cross him up a bunch.

Kansas State

The Wildcats have been about as good as expected this season.

They didn’t quite beat Auburn but played them tough and have played to a 2-2 ATS mark, essentially half the time they are better than you think and half the time worse. This is sort of the last respite before a really tough stretch starting with a visit to Oklahoma next week. It seems like KSU is never the team looking ahead though you couldn’t blame them this time, especially with Webb out of the lineup.

Jake Waters to Tyler Lockett was supposed to be one of the most lethal duos in college football this season but it hasn’t come to fruition, at least not yet. Neither is playing poorly they just haven’t been lighting up the scoreboards. Thus far Waters has not been overly sharp. He is running the ball better but KSU is not going to be able to beat the good teams in their league with his feet.

NCAA Football Week #6 Prediction:  Kansas State -14

NCAAF Score prediction:  4* Play on Kansas State 38 – Texas Tech 20

The Wildcats will put the pressure on the new Tech QB. His baptism under fire will be a little rocky I am afraid.
