Ole Miss

The spotlight of the college football world is definitely focused on the state of Mississippi right now.

Last week Ole Miss beat Alabama, delivering on the promise of recruiting rankings for the first time in a long time.

The win was pivotal but things do not get much easier for the Rebels as they hit the road to take on Texas A&M on Saturday night.

They are catching the Aggies off their first loss of the season to Mississippi State so they could be ripe for another fall.

For a lot of reason QB Bo Wallace gets a lot of attention. However, the thing that has really stood out for the Rebels this season is the defense. They are second in points allowed and in the Top 10 in total yards and passing yards allowed.

Alabama has been killing everybody (including Florida) but the Rebels held them well below their seasonal averages giving Wallace and the offense enough room to win the game.

Texas A&M

Up until last week the Aggies were the nice surprise team in the SEC.

They  rocked South Carolina in the opener and were showing that their recent success was going to transcend the Johnny Manziel era. Their loss to the Bulldogs last week enabled Mississippi and Mississippi State to continue their ascension.

If they can get back to winning this week they will be right back in the thick of things in the SEC West and national pictures.

After about as impressive a debut as any I can remember we are not hearing much about Kenny Hill these days.

If A&M really is among the elite that has to change because like Manziel before him, Hill can be a real difference maker. Hill is coming off his worst game as a starter with three interceptions against Mississippi State.

He needs to have a short memory and deliver a superlative performance for the Aggies to win.

NCAA Football Week #7 Prediction:  Mississippi +2

After this week only one of these teams will be considered a real contender, the other a spoiler.

Take the extra couple of points and hitch your ride to the rising Rebels. Hopefully this moves to a full 3 before gametime.
