 Michigan State

With every passing week there seems to be less and less doubt that the Spartans are the best team in the Big Ten.

They may not be making backers much money but they are undefeated in conference so far and have looked pretty good since their second half struggles at Oregon.

Though we all thought the offense would make strides this season I don’t think anybody would have predicted that they would be 4th in the nation in scoring. Sure the 73 they hung on Eastern Michigan is an outlier but they are an FBS squad and they covered a -43.5 that day.

Michigan State has one of the most balanced offenses around these days thanks to the running of Jeremy Langford and the passing of Connor Cook.

Neither are among the statistical leaders in terms of production but put together they have become quite a duo, taking pressure off a defense that though still good is definitely lot at the standard we have seen on East Lansing lately.

Indiana

Coming into the season I liked Indiana a lot as a sleeper.

They weren’t paying off big time but their win at Mizzou was a sign that this team had the potential to compete with top programs. That was because of an offense that was proving to be hard to stop and was not just an aerial show like it has been in the past.

This week they found out that they lost their starting QB in Nate Sudfield, which puts a lot of pressure on his backup and the surprise output of RB Tevin Coleman.

It is amazing how the Hoosiers have gone from pass dominant to run with Coleman leading the way.  Coleman leads the nation in rushing but the question is whether he and the Indiana line continue to have the success they have been enjoying if there is not even a hint of a passing threat.

The new backup QB is very untested thanks to the transfer of Tre Roberson. Sometimes the difference between the top and bottom is depth.
