The winner stays in the race while the loser might have been a pretender all along.

Lafayette

The Cajuns were among the favourites in the Sun Belt this season.

Though they are very much alive in the conference race you can easily make the point that they have disappointed thanks to a 1-4 ATS record, including 4 straight ATS losses heading into this one.

The best thing Lafayette has going for it is a senior at the helm in Terrance Broadway.

He has been a disappointment though which is part of the reason the overall team performance has not been very good.

Top running threat Elijah McGuire is unlikely to play in this one which puts more pressure on Broadway to play well.  I think this is a spot where he can rise to the occasion. They may not have shown it year but Lafayette is the better team and this could be an opportunity to steal one when nobody is looking.

As the underdog they can better manage a back and forth scoring contest but it would be nice to see some defense too.

Texas State

The Bobcats may be 1-0 in Sun Belt play but they had the luxury of facing Idaho, maybe the worst team in all of FBS for their solo league game. Still there are some encouraging signs for for Texas State including strong road play in a close loss to Illinois and a win over Tulsa.

Given their location there is every reason to believe that the Bobcats should be able to compete in the Sun Belt. Thus far they are proving to be a reasonably impressive offensive club, 20th in yards per game.

I like the Cajuns to show a little moxie in this one and get things back on track.

4* FREE NCAAF Score prediction:  Lafayette 27 – Texas State 24

Sure they are hitting the road as an underdog but it is not like they going to Autzen Stadium. Take the points and go.
