The top two teams in the SEC East division collide midday on Saturday in the Show-Me State; Missouri’s state motto is actually a good parallel to what these two teams need to do in order to prove that they can run with the big boys over in the SEC West.

Missouri natives are already bouncing off the walls with the performance of both the St. Louis Cardinals and the Cinderella-esque Kansas City Royals in the MLB postseason; Tigers QB Maty Mauk and Co. are hoping to give the fans something else to cheer about.

It won’t be easy when you look over at who lines up in the backfield for Georgia. Running back Todd Gurley is the best in the nation (apologies to Melvin Gordon) and is the current frontrunner to win the Heisman Trophy.

Gurley is an absolute load to bring down and the Bulldogs have weapons built around him, so they can find other ways to score on you.

For what veteran Georgia QB Hutson Mason lacks in pizzazz, he makes up for with knowledge, both of Georgia’s offense and his own limitations. He won’t lose the game for you and when you have a player like Gurley and a LB corps like Georgia does, that can often be good enough.

Georgia have been dropping points on everyone, ranking sixth nationally in scoring offense. If it isn’t Gurley, it’s freshman RB Nick Chubb, or Mason throwing to WRs Chris Conley and Michael Bennett.

In every scenario, it’s dynamic athletes that can hurt you.

On defense, the ‘Dawgs are led by Ramik Wilson and future NFL stud Leonard Floyd. There’s incredible depth in the LBs, too, with Amarlo Herrera and OLB Jordan Jenkins also being excellent football players.

If the Tigers are to get the job done at home, they must try to slow down Gurley, or at least limit the exposure in Georgia’s dangerous offense to Gurley alone. It’s not a small task, especially when Mizzou squeaked by South Carolina last week in a one-point victory, and lost to Indiana the week before that.

Mauk is also a great QB and he has nice chemistry throwing to Bud Sasser and Darius White. If that passing triumvirate is at its best and the defense shows up at home, the Tigers might win this ball game.

4* Play on Georgia 28, Missouri 21

I like the chances, however, of Gurley going off for another big game and cementing his candidacy as the country’s best with another big win for his team.
