Seminoles vs Yellow Jackets Pick

NCAA Football Conference Championship Week betting action sees the fourth-ranked Florida State Seminoles taking on #11 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday December 6th at Bank of America Stadium. Cappers Picks provides free college football handicapping tips all season long.

It hasn’t been as pretty as it was during last year’s National Title-winning season, but the FSU Seminoles have still gone unbeaten in 2014 and are well-positioned to reclaim their national crown.

A plucky Georgia Tech team is the last hurdle for head coach Jimbo Fisher and his ‘Noles.

“Famous Jameis” (or, with all the negative publicity surrounding his sexual assault allegations and stupid behaviour, perhaps “Infamous” is fitting) Winston and his Florida State team are right where it needs to be, despite it not being a smooth road.

The Seminoles have grinded out games where they were supposed to blow out opponents, but when you have no losses on your season record, ultimately that is what matters.

Still, the lack of “Wow” factor with Florida State’s wins has led to it dropping to second in the Associated Press poll and fourth in the College Football Playoff rankings.

As they proved last week, the Yellow Jackets shouldn’t be a cake-walk by any means.

Georgia Tech earned an impressive OT win over in-state rival Georgia last week and it accomplished it with a dominant run game. Running back Zach Laskey found the endzone and QB Justin Thomas is a dual threat.

Head coach Paul Johnson’s young men play disciplined and hard; the ‘Noles must be completely on their game if Florida State is to have a chance at defending its crown.

It’ll be made more difficult with the absence of RB Karlos Williams, who will miss the game with an injury. Williams is leading FSU in carries and TDs (10), but they still have blazing-fast freshman Dalvin Cook. Every time the Miami native touches the ball, he’s a threat to take it to the house.

Winston hasn’t been perfect, but he’s still one of the nation’s marquee field generals. He can put all the negative publicity behind him with an ACC title victory and a guaranteed spot in the FBS final four.

Remarkably, the Seminoles have won 28 consecutive ballgames, so for all the doubters and detractors that emerge, there’s no reason to think they cannot accomplish this in North Carolina this weekend.

Look for beastly DT Eddie Goldman to help thwart Tech’s vaunted running attack, and though I called Georgia to do the same last weekend (I have no problem eating crow when necessary), I think the Seminoles will be too overwhelming for a disciplined – but less talented – Yellow Jackets squad.

Anticipate Florida State winning what should be a nerve-wracking game for the Tallahassee faithful.
