The Ohio Bobcats come in one win shy of bowl eligibility and look to send their Seniors out on top with a win.

Northern Illinois

The Huskies must avoid looking ahead in their road contest with Ohio.  Northern Illinois controls its own destiny in the MAC West after their week 12 win against the Toledo Rockets.  With a win against Ohio, they will head to Western Michigan in week 14 with the winner clinching a spot in the MAC Championship game.

Northern Illinois offense looks to continue their success on the ground with RB Cameron Stingily.  Stingily, who ran for two touchdowns last week, has carried the Huskies on his back during this four game winning streak by finding the end zone ten times.  He’s ran for 706 yards total this season while averaging 5.1 yards per carry.

While Stingily is the main impact player for the Huskies offense, QB Drew Hare is not too far behind.  Dual threat quarterback Drew Hare has thrown for 1542 yards and ran for 687 yards.  Hare’s ball security has been stellar this season as well with only one interception to his name.

The Huskies defense is allowing 27.8 points per game on the road this season, which is a little above their season average of 25.5.

Look for them to bring difference blitz packages all night long and force Bobcats QB Derrius Vick into some mistakes.

Ohio

The Bobcats got some well deserved rest last week after what was their most impressive win of the season two weeks ago at home vs Buffalo.

The Bobcats offensive line got some great push and allowed RB A.J. Ouellette to run for 155 yards and two touchdowns.

It was the third multi touchdown game for Ouellette this season.

It will be important for the Bobcats to control the time of possession and convert in the redzone as their offense has struggled to generate points consistently this season.  Ohio averages just 20.8 points per game (111th) and they rank 89th overall with 374.6 yards per game.

The Bobcats will attempt to clinch their sixth straight bowl appearance which would be an incredible feat after playing such inconsistent football all season long.

NCAA Football Handicapping Trends:

  • Huskies are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 road games.
  • Huskies are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games in November.
  • Bobcats are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.
  • Bobcats are 7-15 ATS in their last 22 conference games.

Week 3 NCAA Football

While the Bobcats are playing to clinch another bowl birth, the Huskies have bigger sights set.  A win this week and next week in Western Michigan will earn them a spot in the MAC championship game in Detroit, Michigan.

The Huskies ground attack will be too much for the Bobcat defense to stop.

This is a really good spot to get value on Northern Illinois. The Huskies will wear this Bobcats defense down with a heavy dosage of Cameron Stingily early.
