Louisville

The Cardinals (2-1) lost on the road to Virginia 23-21 their last time out after defeating both the Miami and Murray State at home to start the season.

Now they must continue their road stand, but hopefully with different results if they want to maintain their No. 21 ranking. A loss could drop them out of the Top 25 all together.

The offense sputtered as Louisville was able to only gain 282 total yards, while allowing 285 to Virginia, converting just 4-of -14 third downs.
The Cardinals turned the ball over four times, including two interceptions by quarterback Will Gardner who completed only 14-of-34 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns.

His favorite target on the day was Miles Gooch who had a single touchdown.

Defensively, the Cards played well and were able to force three turnovers against Virginia.

Florida International

The Golden Panthers (1-2) started the season with a loss to Bethune-Cookman and after beating Wagner in week two, was blown out by Pittsburgh 42-25 at home last weekend.

FIU gained only 293 total yards, while giving up 422 total yards to the Panthers last week, but the most jolting detail about the contest, was the fact that the Golden Panthers led 16-0 in the first quarter.

Nevertheless, a rash of penalties and a key turnover allowed Pitt to score two touchdowns in the second, to narrow

FIU’s lead to just two points at the break.

In the second half is was all downhill for the Golden Panthers, as the ground attack continued to struggle, rushing for only 57 yards, increasing the pressure on quarterback Alex McGough.

McGough carried the offense well, as he completed 15-of-30 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns, including one to receiver Glenn Coleman.

FIU will have their hands full again this weekend.

Louisville cannot afford to start slow like they did against Virginia, so look for them to use Gardner and go to the air early.

I expect Louisville to win this game in blowout fashion.

Score Prediction: Louisville 45, Florida International 14
