Louisiana Tech

The Bulldogs (2-2) opened the 2014 season with a loss at Oklahoma, but quickely turned things around with two wins on the road. However, their luck ran out last weekend, after dropping a heartbreaker against FCS Northwestern State, 30-27.

Louisiana Tech could have won that one.

Quarterback Cody Sokol has led the Bulldogs’ offense, completing 62.7 percent of his passes to go along with 10 touchdowns and d 1,009 yards.

He does have five interceptions, however, and will need to take more care against a ball hawking Tigers defense this Saturday.

He will need to mix things up a little if he wants any success through the air, and in doing so will lean on running back Kenneth Dixon who leads the La. Tech ground attack with nearly six yards per carry average. He has five rushing touchdowns and two touchdown receptions thus far.

Defensively, La. Tech has four interceptions, five fumble recoveries and six sacks.

Auburn

The Tigers (3-0) are off to a great start, and if they have it their way, will be heading back to the National Championship game this year.

The Tigers beat a resilient Kansas State team on the road on Thursday night managing just three points on its first six drives.

Quarterback Nick Marshall hasn’t really looked all that good, but does boast a 55 percent completion percentage.

It’s probably because he has very little help from his receivers.

That has forced the Tigers to turn to their rushing attack which is led by Cameron Artis-Payne with four touchdowns.

Defense has been the story for Auburn, and as a unit it has six interceptions, a fumble recovery and eight sacks.

Week 5 NCAA Football Spread Prediction

Auburn is 16-5 against the spread in their last 21 games, while Louisiana Tech is 4-0 against the spread against the SEC.

The Tigers have played well enough to win games but they haven’t looked overly impressive.

4* NCAAF Score Prediction: Auburn 28, Louisiana Tech 27

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have looked pretty good, and they can score.

If Tech can keep from turning the ball over, I expect them to do enough to cover the spread here.
