A win over Kent State would put them one step closer to their quest for six wins and bowl eligibility.

Kent State

While their record is not good, at all, the Golden Flashes have shown glimpses of good football over the past weeks.  While they have not added any wins to their record, Kent State has shown resilience by staging 2nd half comebacks vs the Toledo Rockets and Bowling Green Falcons.

Even though they fell short in both contests, they managed to cover the double digit spreads both times.

The Kent State offense ranks near the very bottom of the standings in both rushing yards and points per game.  The Golden Flashes are averaging just 78.8 yards per game (125th) on the ground and just 15.3 points per game (125th).

While Sophomore QB Colin Reardon has struggled with turnovers, he has still managed to lead the Golden Flashes to 227.2 pass yards per game (70th).  If Kent wants any chance of getting their first road win of the season, Reardon will have to stop forcing the ball into tight coverage.

Reardon has thrown at least one interception in all but two games.

Their stats on the road are abysmal to say the least.  The Golden Flashes average just 10.0 points per road contest and are allowing 33.6 points.

Buffalo Bulls

While they knew it was going to be no easy task, the Buffalo Bulls took their first step in the right direction towards bowl eligibility with their 55-24 win over Akron in week 12.

Needing two more wins in a row to reach their goal, they play host to Kent State on Senior day.

The Bulls will look to lean on Junior QB Joe Licata, who threw for four touchdowns last week.  Licata has led Buffalo to a 4-2 home record, where they score 33.2 points per game.

Overall, the Bulls offense ranks 53rd in the Nation with 427.2 yards per game.

Even though Kent State remains winless on the road this season, Buffalo will be looking to break a trend of 5 straight wins for the road team in this head to head match up.

In order to do so, the Bulls will need to shut down Reardon’s main target WR Casey Pierce, who has caught five touchdowns this season.

NCAA Football Handicapping Trends:

  • Kent State is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Kent State is 5-9-1 ATS in its last 15 games
  • Buffalo is 4-8 ATS in its last 12 games
  • Bulls are 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
  • Bulls are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a S.U. win.

Week 13 NCAA Football

Kent State has played better as of late, but they still struggle to find any type of rhythm during games.  All of the Bulls wins this season have came at home and they should push that total to five wins this week.

Look for Buffalo to force Kent State into some big turnovers and ultimately win comfortably in the end.
