TCU will close out their regular season at home against one of the easiest opponents they’ve played this season.

They’re on the verge of making the college football playoff, so I expect them to put on a show.

This is by far the biggest point spread of the week and with good reason. Since losing to Baylor, TCU has won six games in a row and several have been blowouts against tougher competition than Iowa State.

The Cyclones haven’t won since early October and they’re winless in conference play. They’ve actually been playing better as of late and have stayed within single digits in their last two match-ups.

TCU has one of the best offenses in the country. They score 46.1 PPG (3rd) and have a balanced attack to keep defenses guessing. The Horned Frogs average 315.4 PYPG (8th) and 210.5 RYPG (36th).

Trevone Boykin is having an incredible season for TCU. He has thrown 26 TD passes and he leads the team with 8 rushing TD’s as well. I wouldn’t expect to see Boykin play in the entire game this week though.

Iowa State’s defense allows 37.4 PPG (115th), 250.7 RYPG (120th) and 260.6 PYPG (102nd). Aaron Green has had 98 carries only at RB this season, but he’s averaging 7.7 YPC and he has 7 rushing TD’s.

Green should be able to have one of his best games of the season, as TCU should protect Boykin because of the upcoming playoffs. I actually think that the Cyclones will have some success on offense.

The Cyclones aren’t afraid to air it out and they’re averaging 257.2 PYPG (44th). They struggle to run the football (127.7 RYPG – 108th) and put up points (25.0 PPG – 93rd), but they can pass effectively.

TCU has actually struggled against the pass (250.6 PYPG – 92nd), but they’re only giving up 21.9 PPG (26th) and 120.1 RYPG (18th). ISU should have no problem scoring 2-3 TD’s through the air this weekend.

This is a huge point spread and there are many ways ISU could end up covering. If Boykin doesn’t play in the entire game it’ll be tough to cover 34 points, especially if ISU has success through the air like I expect.

Iowa State Cyclones +34 (-110)

Since these two teams started playing each other again two years they’ve split the series 1-1. ISU smoked TCU is 2012 and lost by just four points last season. TCU will win at home, but not by 30+ points.
