Illinois

The Fighting Illini (3-3) will again be without starting quarterback Wes Lunt who suffered a broken leg in a loss to the Purdue Boilermakers earlier this season.

Since then, the Illini have turned to backup Reilly O’Toole, who is completing 52.6 percent of his passes, but has only thrown one touchdown to four interceptions.

That’s forced Illinois to rely more in its running game, which is fueled by running back Josh Ferguson who is averaging nearly six yards per catty while scoring in three straight games. So, it’s likely Ferguson is going to get more carries against the Badgers, until the team’s passing offense starts to click.

Defensively, the Illini are allowing 35.5 points, 482.3 yards and have forced seven turnovers and 12 sacks.

Wisconsin

The Badgers (3-2) were stunned last time out, falling to Northwestern

Two quarterbacks couldn’t figure out the Wildcats’ defense, as both Tanner McEvoy and backup Joel Stave were held to a combined one touchdown, which was a late fourth quarter 19-yard TD pass from Stave to WR Kenzel Doe.

Running back Melvin Gordon added the other TD in the game against Northwestern, bringing the total to eight rushing touchdowns in his last three games. Gordon is providing the majority of the Badgers’ offense, averaging 8.3 yards per carry on the season.

On the defensive side of the football, the Badgers are allowing 15.6 points, 285.6 yards, and have forced seven turnovers and 13 sacks.
