While Oregon State managed to complete their upset of Arizona State, Washington failed to hold out with 50 seconds left when they allowed a game-winning Arizona field goal as time expired.

It was a huge win for Oregon State who is not used to being this far back in the conference.

Sean Mannion is destined for the NFL next season and the team needed at least one more moment of glory for the gunslinger. It could happen again next week, though, as the Beavs head to Eugene to take on in-state rival Oregon.

The Huskies were looking for a turning point win and almost had it. Washington scored with just under a minute left, giving them the lead against the Wildcats. Arizona capitalized on a huge Husky mistake and marched down and kicked the game winner with 0 seconds left. All 5 of Washington’s losses have come in-conference and to nationally ranked opponents.

Oregon State

Despite the fact that this season is basically the Sean Mannion farewell tour, the team has a lot of bright spots that are being overlooked. Mannion deserves the accolades – after all, he DID set the new Pac-12 career passing yards with a current total of 13,214.

They have a 2-headed run game that has helped the passing game get going this year led by Terron Ward and Storm Woods. On the year, Ward has 133 carries for 696 yards and 10 touchdowns.

He’s also got 29 receptions for 229 yards. Woods has 88 carries for 591 yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground and 14 receptions for 100 yards and 1 touchdown.

The passing game has been thriving. Despite their record, Sean Mannion and his receiving corps have done their jobs. This season, Mannion has amassed 2,688 yards on 233 of 368 passing. He has 12 touchdowns to 7 interceptions.

The Beavers have NINE players with over 100 yards receiving on the season. Victor Bolden has been the biggest target of them all, catching 58 passes for 648 and 2 touchdowns. Jordan Villamin is next in receiving with 29 grabs for 511 yards and 4 scores.

Connor Hamlett also has 30 receptions for 330 yards and 2 touchdowns.

On defense, Ty Zimmerman is leading the team in tackles with 75 – 16 more than the next defender. 2 of those 75 tackles were for loss, including a sack. He also has 3 interceptions, 5 passes defended and a QB hit.

Five different defenders have 3 or more sacks each, with Obum Gwacham leading the pack with 4 on the year.

Washington

Last week’s loss to Arizona will be talked about for a long time in the Pac-12. The Huskies played well on the road against a ranked conference opponent, but their finish was the story of the season for the Dawgs.

Instead of taking a knee with 50 seconds left, the team ran the ball, ending in a fortuitous Deontae Cooper turnover which led to the game winner. The offense must now look past that game, where they outgained the Arizona offense 504 yards to 375 yards.

Cyler Miles has slowly improved as the season has progressed. He has completed 151 of 229 passes for 1,627 yards, 12 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He has also run the ball 101 times for 259 yards and 4 scores.

His most popular target is Jaydon Mickens, who has 43 receptions for 400 yards and 2 touchdowns. His most explosive target has been John Ross, who has 17 catches for 371 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Ross’ athleticism has been on display all year. He has run the ball 6 times for a score this season as well. His newest endeavor, though, is on the other side of the ball where he has been tabbed to help fill the void by the dismissal of cornerback Marcus Peters.

Lavon Coleman, Shaq Thompson and Dwayne Washington have all rushed for over 400 yards and are all separated by 50 yards. Washington is leading the pack with 6 scores while Coleman has received the most carries with 118, 29 more than the next guy.

You couldn’t talk about the 2014 Huskies without talking about the defense. The defensive line has been superb while everything behind it has been very shaky. Hau’oli Kikaha is still the nation’s leader in sacks with 16.5, tied with Nate Orchard of Utah. Danny Shelton has 8.5 of his own while Andrew Hudson has 7.

As a whole, the team has racked up 75 tackles for loss, 40 sacks, 9 interceptions, 16 forced fumbles and 14 fumble recoveries.

Week 13 NCAA Football Prediction

There’s a lot on the line in this game. Most importantly, bowl eligibility. Each team is just one victory away from becoming eligible with 2 games remaining. After this tilt against each other, they go into rivalry week with their in-state foes.

The Huskies defensive line has giving quarterbacks fits all season. Even the few times they couldn’t get the quarterback down, they still put a lot of pressure on them. If they don’t get pressure on Mannion, the Washington secondary will be in trouble.

Free 4* NCAA Betting Pick: Washington -6

If the Huskies play their game the way they want to and pressure Mannion a lot, they come away with a fairly easy victory.

Final Week 13 Score: Oregon State 20 – Washington 28
