Week 1: Bengals vs Utes Predictions
The opening week of college football action sees the Idaho State Bengals taking on the Utah Utes on Thursday August 28th at Rice Eccles Stadium. Cappers Picks provides free college football handicapping tips all season long.

Idaho State
The Idaho State football program is terrible.

They also have a nice reputation for being a pitstop for successful coaches including Marvin Lewis, Dirk Koetter and Gary Andersen. There is not a lot of hope coming into this one of being very competitive.
About the only thing going for the Bengals in this one is the fact that they return senior QB Justin Arias.
He threw for more than 3000 yards last season. He spreads the ball around but is missing his play guy Luke Austin. This is critical because if the Bengals were to have any chance they would have to make some game changing plays.
They cannot expect to be able to methodically move the ball down the field.
Utah
The Utes, who are looking to be much improved this season, scheduled a very easy opener for their season. So far things have not gone very well since joining the PAC 12 and they definitely need to build some momentum before the season really starts in earnest.

The Utes are hoping that the unexpected return of QB Travis Wilson can inspire the team. Without him last year the team was lost but with him at the helm at least they have a fighting chance in a very tough league.
This will be a nice warm up game for Wilson but we really won’t know much more about what to expect from the Utes this season. I still see a team that is light on talent as compared to its conference mates, one that is no longer able to play the underestimated underdog.
The best unit on the squad is probably the special teams where they have all league players at punter and kicker.
Its just not enough.
With an FCS lightweight against a team from the PAC 12 it is no surprise that there is no line posted on this one.
I know the score prediction looks ugly but I feel like I am actually being modest because Utes coach Kyle Whittingham does not seem very likely to run things up on an inferior opponent like the Bengals.
No lines though so you will have to direct your funds someplace else.
