The Auburn Tigers host the LSU Tigers on Saturday in Week 6 of the college football season. These SEC foes met a season ago, with LSU taking that matchup, handing Auburn its only regular season loss of the season.
This game carries major implication in the SEC West as a second loss for LSU would all but eliminate the team from contention for the SEC title. The team opened the year with three straight wins, including a signature victory over Wisconsin to open the season.

The opening to their SEC schedule didn’t go quite as swimmingly as they were bounced by Mississippi State 34-29 in Baton Rouge. They answered back with a convincing 63-7 victory over New Mexico State a week ago, but now they need to show that they can win a key game inside the SEC.

As for Auburn, they’ve picked up right where they left off a year ago, winning each of their first four games of the season. Their lone SEC tilt came in their opener when they beat Arkansas 45-21. They have a signature win over Kansas State, claiming a 20-14 victory in Manhattan.

LSU will be throwing out Brandon Harris at quarterback in this one. He gets the nod over an ineffective Anthony Jennings. Harris totaled five touchdowns last week (three through the air, two on the ground) while not turning the ball over a single time.

The key to moving the ball for LSU will be its rushing attack though. Highly touted freshman running back Leonard Fournette has carried the ball 56 times for 322 yards and four touchdowns on the season. He ran for 122 yards and two scores last weekend.

As for the LSU defense, even with their struggles against Mississippi State, they are still averaging only 13.0 points per game and 292.2 yards per game.

FREE Auburn vs. LSU Pick:

Auburn has proven last season wasn’t a fluke and that they’re going to be around for the long haul. With that said, their toughest competition came in Manhattan against a Kansas State squad that can’t hold a candle to LSU. Auburn’s lone loss came against LSU a year ago, and while a different outcome is likely this time around, expect LSU to at least keep this one close.

Additionally, both sides will be taking to the ground when they have the football which will mean the clock will keep right on rolling from start to finish. The LSU defense has the discipline to eliminate the big plays from Auburn, which will make for a long day.

LSU is 4-1 ATS in its five games this season.

The under is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings between these teams, and 6-1 in the last seven meetings in Auburn.

The play: LSU +7.5, Under 56
